I have a DX7 and hate the unlit LCD... really annoying... I'm thinking of a DX8 or a 9503... anyone have any thoughts? assuming both of those were the same price, which would you go for?

Clearly, no one has actually used the DX8 yet, but I thought I'd ask anyways.

The DX8 has a back lit screen, 8 channels and real time telemetry. The 9503 has a back lit screen, 9 channels and a on throttle timer. Personally I would go for the 9503 if they were the same price. Get an extra channel and the on throttle timer is a fantastic thing, especially if you are flying gas planes. I always managed to forget to set my timer when I fly around for the first couple of minutes

Actually, quite a few of us have, but those pesky NDA's keep us from talking too much.

There are some interesting videos that have popped up recently. Model Airplane News has a little one, and I saw one of Alan Szabo last night. To find more recent info, I use google. First, I search on "DX8" and it pops up tons of links (many for DirectX). Next I click on the little "Advanced Search" link, and select Date, and set it to "Past 24 hours."

BTW, the timer can be assigned to the throttle. This was announced back in February in the German links.

AH! I didnt know that, but then again when spektrum released it the info was kinda vague...

Andy, I don't think you'd be violating any NDA if you suggested to get a DX8 or 9503 without having to explain anything?

I'm leaning towards the DX8 simply because it's the newer product.

our local importer has already started to advertise it on their site, BUT! just like everywhere, "No Price"

That site says 16 MB card included. That has to be a typo.

Thats a tiny card. I guess you really don't need much for airplane settings.

Manual available?

If they put an mp3 player in the radio, then a bigger SD card would be needed.

Thats what I need, A radio with an MP3 player in it

I don't know the exact size of a setting file, however, even if a airplane setting file was 50kb, per file. That would be 327 seperate aircraft files on a 16mb card (1mb=1024kb x 16=16384kb/50kb=327.68). Anyone got that many planes? Probably could always buy a larger size card.
