Hello Andy,

I see that the UK is starting to receive the UMX Carbon Cub and several of the new owners are using DX8's. They are setting up their Cubs flaps with slowed flap travel and they also need elevator compensation. The flaps travel at the slowed speed but the elevator snaps to position. Is there a way to get the elevator servo to use the same travel speed as the flaps?

If they are using the flap menu and input elevator compensation in that menu the elevator should move per the speed set in the flap menu.

What airware version are they using?

Sorry I don't know what version they are using but based on your answer I would have to assume it's an old one if it should be working. I'll suggest to them to update to 1.04. That's the latest, correct?

I just remembered one more thing. The Carbon Cub has been set from the factory to activate the flaps on the gear channel so they are mixing gear and flaps so they can use the flaps switch for flaps. Maybe that makes the servo speed not work how they want it too.

One other interesting item is that they are getting signal strength telemetry data from the Carbon Cub receiver. That's a Carbon Cub feature that I didn't realize was coming.

The out of the box Carbon Cub comes with the flaps plugged into the gear channel. This is for the guys who have DX4e and DX5e to be able to fly the model as well. In order to get the slow flaps and elevator compensation to work at the same speed, the flaps must be plugged into the flap channel (Aux 1) for the flap and elevator compensation to work at the same speed. Basically that requires opening the fuselage, and swapping the ports of the flap servo.

However, there is another solution, but a bit more complex:

Set your wing type for the Carbon Cub to 1 Aileron, 1 Flap, and assign the flap channel to the flap switch in switch select. Also inhibit the gear as well. Now create a mix of FLP > GER, and set the mix to 100% for both sides.

Now you can go into the flap system and use the elevator compensation numbers as well as the normal numbers for setting the flaps. Essentially, you're inhibiting the gear switch from moving the flaps, then mixing it to the flap channel (which does nothing on the model since the ailerons are programmed to be y-harnessed).

Hope this helps!
