What do you mean by a "clear signal"?

You aren't listening to the signal the way a radio does, Kawi.

Cables are very different on the inside.

I had a bad wire that would intermittently cut me off while I was playing sim, when I got the walmart wire I never had a single issue again. Also, using it, I got a clear signal from dx4e to dx4e, it was just the dx8 seemed to be more demanding.

That's my point, it delivers a clear signal for what it was intended. Beyond that, it wasn't adequate.

If he meant an audio signal, then yeah...that means nothing. Single packets of data lost over a poorly made cable can cause tons of issues. And, a cable that may cause data loss could provide an analog audio connection that seems totally fine.

I suspect the cable issue has to do with the impedance of the cable and/or the quality of the conductors and shield.

Bingo. It was meant to deliver an audio signal. You might get away with using it for more to a certain point, but it's not adequate. I wouldn't count on it as a back up for a buddy box.

sorry, i don't buy this.
If a cable is good enough to deliver a audio signal, it's good enough for a transmitter. Trust me, the transmitter signal is nothing special from a electrical point of view. So any decent cable should suffice in my opinion.

There's nothing to buy. I'm just speculating based on my experience. I really don't know the science behind it.

I am certainly not doubting your experience!!
I thinking it was just a unlucky piece of wire.

Can you explain further? Data going over a wire is far more sensitive to interference and poor connections than audio is.

The 2 cables I bought from Horizon for buddy boxes are nothing special in terms of "specs". I dont know what the exact electrical signals are for buddy boxing, but I bet they are not that "Exotic".

I think JC Spohr is right.
Data is really nothing different than audio (in a cable). It's just worse when you lose a bit.
