This might be one reason why it takes a competition pilot so long to get comparable results with a new plane. One has to adapt to the response of the plane by practicing a lot of launches.
In principle it is a routine one learns, it is the same as in other sports where timing matters (e.g. how can a Ski jumper optimize his timing-by practicing a lot).

In control theory, the smith predictor takes latency into account and this is exactly what the pilot ideally should do, "thinking" ahead in the launch.

Be careful mixing system latency (tx to rx latency) and rate limits (servo slew rates). One is a property of a linear system and one is a nonlinearity. Believe it or not, they show up differently in the total system performance. And as pilots we can adapt to both of them remarkably well. When you design autopilots is when you need to really undertand these properties.

A question to OVSS Boss . What kind of receiver are you using with the high voltage 7,2V JR servos ?? .

With the elevator in the launch i came a cross ona thought of mass balancing , maybe it would work . Gl with the Cluster .

Charged, I am using a 900 series 2.4, but any JR RX can handle the higher voltages. The range is 3.5 to 9.6 volts for about any RX they make, as a freshly charged 2S pack, is aboiut 8.2V give or take.

As far as the stab, I will fly it and see, I doubt that I have any issue with a 75oz-in troque servo.

Pics this evening, should have it done from a practical stand point. Aileron servos in last evening, flaps this morning and get the pushrods built and control horns in.

Major Milestone!

Well, the wing servos are in and roughed pushrods are on the ship. So, the moment of truth you could say had arrived, marked a CG and hung a cup on the nose and poured the loose #8 shot in till I had a level ship.

I made it, sub 65 ounce ship!!!!!

To be exact, it was 64.6 ounces. I know that before it is done, it will be 65 most likely, but I am pretty stoked about the results. No pics, you seen this stuff before.

Without photographic evidence of the plane on certified scales how can we believe such a claim. Also, how much performance loss do you anticipate if it indeed ends up being a flying pig at 65.1 ounces versus 64.6 ounces??

I do admit, if indeed the plane is as light as you claim (pending verification on certified scales) then that is an amazing achievement.

Bill, I will check at the meat market and see if it will fit. And yes, it is an amazing achievment, at least for me, others maybe not...
