Anyone Converted the Sureflight 1/2A Cub?

I'm curious as to if anyone has converted it to Electric. Also, Do you think that it would make a good EPS-300C powered plane? I'm looking at it as my next plane sooo... (Click text for Website)

I have seen two converted. Both a long time ago. The first had a can O-5 in it and flew pretty well. This was very early in my electric experience and it inspired me to try one myself. I tried a gearbox, and believing the label, I foolishly tried to use a 7.2volt speed 400 and 6x600mah AA nicad. It was way underpowered, but did actually fly without the landing gear attached. If I had used a 6volt S400 and 7 or 8 cells, I think it would have worked well.

The original kit is or was designed for a Cox 049 motor. The hardware is heavy.

I built one bone stock with a speed 400 using 7 and 8 500AR packs and a 6x4 prop in direct drive.

I built a 2nd one that received lighter tail feathers, lighter opush rods and lighter wheels and gear. On this one I also tried a geared 400. It does not really need the gearing however.

This leads me to think that it will indeed fly with a geared 300

Since the suplied hardware is bogus, try to order a spare wing and fuse. This is the el cheapo way to go.

Good luck

Ahhh, I remember that one.. Didn't know it was your's... Or that it was the .049 version. Cool! Although I'm thinking now that I could just carve a cub out of Pink Foam.

The one in the pic had a speed 400 direct.
You probably can make one out of foam.
I made a fuse out of pink foam for a Cub 1/2 a wing. It looked like a Cessna Cub.

The spare fuse and wing came to $25.00 when I bought them a couple of years ago. Hard to go wrong.
