Build Log
1/10th scale Sopwith Dolphin 5F.1

I just recieved my prototype Sopwith Dolphin from http://www.manzanolaser.com yesterday...I started the build today and it is looking good. Charlie does such nice work and is very helpful when it comes to questions and me bugging him with all kinds silly things.

Here are a few pics and I hope to keep posting as I build but I am in school and I guess my school projects need to come first.

WOW!
I love the Dolphin... Such an elegant bird (not).

What scale?

Cheers,

Hugh

It is 1/10th scale. It is one that doesn't get modelled much and as you say not an elegant bird probably explains it.

You're welcome Charlie, you deserve all the praise we can throw at you...One more question for you? Do you still sell the wood props by Vintage1? I should have ordered one of those for this too...Maybe as it nears completion I will get one.

are you going to allow Manzano to sell this one as a short kit if it flies OK?

Thanks for the compliments...We will see how well it flies and then I need to work on minimizing the parts possibly...as it stands right now there are over 300 laser cut parts and that doesn't include the fuse stringers and carbon fiber parts.

I am trying to build this, go to school for architecture and design a couple more in 1/10th scale...I have one more drawn (Great Lakes Sport Trainer) and ready to be cut but am waiting for this one to be built before I get another one cut. So more to come I hope...

one option may be to have some parts such as the cowling vacuum formed - that would reduce the balsa parts by a dozen or two, and reduce some weight too, probably.
