here R some pix of the Korts and shafts installed, I will do the rudder posts next weekend once the epoxy sets (its the super strength slow setting stuff 24hrs 2 dry and 7 days to fully cure). I will make up some of the deck support structure during the week.

R2hobbies have shipped the ESC's just got 2 wait for them 2 arrive and make up some coupling's going from 4mm at the shaft to 6mm on the motor....but I have an idea I will try before I spend $$ on a set of coupling's.

Tug is progressing nicely, drilled out holes for rudder posts and made up some spacers 2 fit between rudder and hull. I will glue rudder posts and spacers in after work 2mora.

Looking good Bruce.

I think your Semco and the Pacific Responder are just about the same shape, a bit diffeent in size.

As I get Varyag's hull closer to completion it might be a good idea to start on PR's frame design.

Do you think you could share your graph paper designs for the frames etc? I could use them as a start for PR.

Cheers

Andrew

Thx Guys, Tico I am actually looking at making a plug for a Pac Responder sized tug based on the hull I have been building ( It will be approx. 0.90m X 0.21m with approx 0.09m draft ) I will get stuck into the plug shortly I have got the ply for it just need 2 do some cutting 2 get started. Thinking of doing about 5 to 10 hull's and selling em locally ( Oz only) depending on the interest. Stay tuned... (not sure what I'm gonna price em for yet but they won't be 2 expensive)

Ghost my tug is based on 75m x 18m tug so is 1.04m x 0.25m x 0.09m in 1/72 scale will weigh in around 14kg when fully ballasted

Cheers Bruce

Nah mate stick to 1/72 !! Tug will look great alongside Varyag and is good for when you want 2 go for a quick cruise! (rather than mounting an expedition with the big bugga!)

R you going 2 be able 2 get 2 the TF72 Annual regatta in Dec?? I'm about an 80% chance of making it across at present just got 2 jiggle the finances as Dec approaches!!

Cheers Bruce

Not a bad idea, I could combine it with a visit to son and number 2 daugher who both live in Sydney

Do you have to be a memeber to attend and is it ok to be without a ship?

I Have discovered that my original tug project will make an excellent plug for making a mold for a generic (1/72scale)Modern Ocean towing style Tug!! It is 90cm(L) X 20cm(B) X approx 8cm (draft) once I have evicted the spider's!! I will be able throw some putty on it 2 reshape the upper bow area and prepare it for mold making duty. Depending on how the mold turns out I may crank out a number of hulls depending interest.

Cheers Bruce

PS. Tico this hull is almost the exact size for Pac. Responder in 1/72 !!

Shipping would be the only problem ( size more than weight) I will look into it once I get the plug sorted. My supervisor at work found a big tin of builders putty ( 2/3rds of a 2kg tin) on the road side during the day and I taxed it off him !! It will be used on the tug plug too fill in bits I am altering.

The big tug progress's slowly I am currently sanding back some putty around the Kort nozzle legs 2 make it all tidy.

Cheers Bruce
