Some progress has been made on the Titan! Hull has been resprayed a Dark blue with Indian red antifouling. Got the deck redone today while the sun was out and painted the Aft deck fittings tiger yellow. Then fitted the aft bollards and bits...now I need to stuff all the electronics back in...

Still a bit of work to go on the bridge and main mast....

Stuffed all the Rc bitz back in (picture a rats nest of wiring!!) and Tested her in bathroom test facility... bowthruster works nicely and motors running much better after I reconfig the Hobby King 6ch Tx with software on PC.
Took her down to the pond for a test run and she has good speed, turns well and bowthruster spins her around nicely. I will get some pix of her running next time as the Tx batteries went flat just as I wanted to get some pix!
Also will do a bollard pull test with my digital scales ($12ish fromHking!)

Cheers Bruce

Hi Bruce,

What was the software upgrade to the Hobby King all about?

On the cheapy HK 6ch set you can plug it on to the PC (after you download the software) to do the adjustments such as stick endpoints, Servo reversing....the same as the stuff you can adjust on the Turnigy 9X thru the menu on board.

The 6ch I needed to re calibrate the sticks as they were all over the place for the 2 throttles (example ch3 Port throttle was 65% fwd and 78% rev Stbd was 68%fwd and 82%rev) after doing the recalibration they are now all 68% each way (atleast thats what the Software says!)

Cheers Bruce

I have some drawings of a Coast Guard Diesel I\O Zodiac that we use on our ships. Its almost identical to the ones the navy uses. If i can scan it, I'llpost it for you. I think the drawing is in pretty close to the scale 1:48.

What scale are you after? I am using (when it turns up) a 1/72 fleetscale 26'Pacific RHIB on tug and a smaller Gemini. If you are doing a larger scale like 1/48 you might be able to find one as part of a diecast car and boat set (plastic boat) such as the ones by Carama (or similar) and detail it to suit.

I squeezed a quick test sail in this afternoon, so I could do a bollard pull test with my electronic scales. After some swearing at the controller (somehow the throttles have reversed themselves from the settings programmed in last week!!! I reckon when I put fresh Batt's in the Tx it lost the settings....??) I managed to chip the aft port corner
But eventually got a reading off the scales she pulled 0.47kg(1.03lbs) in test 1, 0.89kg(1.96lbs) in test 2 and 0.49kg(1.08lbs) in test 3 I think the angle I was holding the scales influenced how well they read (they are supposed to be used vertically not horizontally...) I will try again when I have someone to drive her for me, while I hold the scales....
Here R some pix....

Cheers Bruce

She looks great already! It really sets to the head when your under full power doesn't it. That's gonna be a sharp one when you get all your fittings on!
Cheers
