Polecat Challenge announcement

Dudes and Dudettes

After much consideration and with much regret I am here to tell you that there will not be a Polecat Challenge 2010. Health, Economy and a difficult family situation with my elderly Mother have finally forced this decision. It was not taken lightly. The Polecat Challenge is/was a DLG event kinda unlike any other. We set a lot of precedents for contests to come and had very successful years filled with a lot of fun and enjoyment for all. For the last two years I have not been up to it and were it not for the involvement of some very good friends it simply wouldn't have come off. Polecat, you see, is not a club sponsored event. They simply allow me the use of the field (pretty acomodating for a power club in prime flying season) All aspects of the contest were handled by myself, family and friends. Hopefully one of the other groups more in touch with current dlg will step up and put on a contest of this magnitude. I'm going to take a shot at thanking folks who have been important in helping with the contest over the years. I'm sure I will miss a few so please don't be offended if your name isn't mentioned. Thanks to Dave Register, Leon Morrison, John Appling, Doug Harnish, Shane Spickler, Phil Barnes, Oleg Golovidov and of course Bruce (the clinic man) Davidson and my lovely bride Miss Peggy who fed you guys till you couldn't throw:-) A lot of these guys have contests of their own and I would ask that you support them for all the work they do for the hobby. Thanks to all the wonderful sponsors who have made the fantastic raffles possible. I would ask one thing from you guys. If you attend a contest this year and win something from one of these sponsors, Please, Please take the time to write or call and thank them for their support of the hobby!! I recieved multiple e-mails from sponsors last year disgruntled because no one even took the time to thank them. I even had one sponsor who never sent the prize he promised. This is VERY important for the continued support from these guys.
I'm not dead yet girls but things like laying in my van last year on sunday with my leg packed in ice and putting way to much pressure on friends and family force this decision.
Many thanks to all the great folks who have supported this contest over the years and all the great friends I've made. Good luck to all contest organizers this year, here's hoping you have your best year ever.

Thanks
Denny Maize

Hey Denny!
Thanks for everything, Sir! The time I competed there was some of the best fun I've had. Family, friends and self always come first!

Denny, we will definitely miss the Polecat contest. It was one of the best, if not the best HL event. We all wish you well and hope your health improves, and so does the financial situation for you and everybody else.

Denny,

I will speak for the rest of the Nisita clan when I say we are heartbroken. It has become an annual pilgrimmage for us and you have always treated us like family. you will be sorely missed. Your contest was the best we have ever attended and always take the time to ask way in advance for time off and do whatever it takes to be there.

Let me be ther first to ask, if you had gobbs of support, could we change your mind? It is difficult for me to ask because I, only a small amount , know much you put into hosting such a contest. If support will cause the Polecat Challenge to go on, count me in!! you have always done for us, now it is time for us to reciprocate!! Maybe we will scale down what you normally do but at least it will not cease to exit.

What can I do to help??? I think the Daniel Boone contest in ESL is supported by out of towners, why can the guys of ESL and anyone else who wishes, help you out in kind.

I am sorry. I should respect your decision. It is the fight in me to never give up. Good luck and I hope to see your sitiation - family, health and economically - improve dramatically. The offer to assist always stands. Just say the word!

Sincerely,
Frank Nisita and family

I admit to know nothing of this event but I have heard nothing but GREAT things from the man known as DENNY ..I also have health issues that rocked my world and totally understand how one can lose there spirit or enthusiasm through no choice of our own.

Hope to see things improve for all involved

thank you Denny .your glider designs alone are amazing nevermind the contest that all others use to base comparison from

Thank You Denny,

I feel very fortunate to have participated in the last Polecat Challenge. I had heard stories for a few years about this event, and your hospitality, none of which were exaggerated. Thank you again,

I also have not been to the Polecat, although I did participate remotely in the raffle and won some stuff. I am pretty sure I sent emails to thank the vendors (one of them being Denny).

Polecat kept east coast DLG on the map. I know there have been a lot of contests that have taken some ideas from Polecat and are doing really well. I'm sure DLG on the east coast is in good hands. A great event to attend instead in the summer would be the Nats. Now 2 days of DLG fun and on the weekend.

I have yet to attend, and have been hoping to, one of the Polecats. I hope your situation turns that corner and you get back on track to where you want to be.
