Hyperion SNIPER x II

Hi everyone,

Hyperion has recently just released a revised version of the popular Sniper, with changes addressed to fine tuning the already great design. Along with the Sniper II, a larger Sniper, the Sniper x II has also been released. I'll be doing a little build thread on the X II.

Specs-
Wingspan: 1200 mm (47")
Length: 1220 mm (48")
Wing Area: 33.3 dm squared (516" squared)
AUW: 610 - 660 grams as advertised.

Recommended components-
Motor: Hyperion ZS3007B-24
ESC: Hyperion Atlas-035LB
Battery: G3 VX1100- VX1800 3S
Prop: APC 10x5
Servos: 3x HP-DS11SCB (elevator/ ailerons) and 1x HP-DS11AMB (rudder).

I'll be using all recommended components except for an APC 11x5.5 rather than 10x5.

This setup puts out around 360 watts which equates to roughly 260 watts/lb.

The Sniper is a brilliant 3D trainer and with this setup there is next to no situation you can't power out of.

Let the fun begin!

MC

If I went with APC 11x4.7E wouldn't it fly slower and with more "torque"?

What motor are you using? The APC 11x4.7 would be too much with the ZS-3007B-24. But you are right it would fly slower with more torque. Im assuming you've got the ZS2213-xx?

yes sir on the 2213. do you have the specs on the 3007? im wondering if the 2213 would be enough for it to fly similar to the sniper 40".

I'll post a couple of the wing and fuse before I get into the step by step build part of things. First impressions are that it's really a great size.

The 2213 will make a wicked light weight setup. Expect good, but not crazy power. If using the Zs2213-18, you should use 10x4.7SF, or APC 11x5.5 E max. I don't actually have spec's on the ZS3007B-24 yet, but will update this post when I do. I can tell you that I was getting 358 watts off a little over 30 amps on the 11x5.5 and G3 2100 CX.

Good idea, save the ZS2213-18 for the smaller Sniper.

Great build - cant wait to see it in the air!

Do you know if they are going to come out with a new version of the 61" wing span Sniper XL? I picked up one of the old versions just before they went out of stock. I would like to see what improvements they may have made.

Thanks

I don't, but with enough demand, my guess would be that there's a possibility.

Any idea when these will be available in the US? Or who sells them now?
