Frankly I think the 300 is the best choice and maybe prop it for 2 cells.

Thinking about a Turnigy motor option. Do you guys think the one in the link below will be a good one?

I would think based solely on HC's data that that motor would work on this plane. You sure can't beat the price!!

that motor will work just fine, efficent and plenty to pull out from hover.
8 X 3.8 prop on 2 cells would be a good combo.

Thanks for the replies guys. After reading the comment one guy wrote about the rimfire 300 might be a better choice ... and knowing that I will be flying this plane half outsite and half inside, I am thinking about going with this little bit bigger Turnigy now..

The reviews indicate that the motor actually weighs 35g, not the advertised 25.9g

The Rimfire 300 is 27g.

I saw that. I think that motor would probably be way to much weight.

I picked up one of these at the not-so-local HS today. After my previous experience building an Electrifly plane, I'll be using as little CA as possible. I've got some foam safe UHU all purpose stuff that may need a CA tack or two to hold it while it dries. I'll take longer, but should be worth it in the end.

I'll be using an E-flite Park 250, an E-flite Pro 10 amp ESC, three Futaba 3114s and the smallest Spektrum receiver that I can rob off another plane.

Compared to Micro 4-site?

Really nice review! How does the Extra compare to the 4-site that I believe you reviewed - from a flight characteristics perspective?

Heh! That's what I'm about to find out but I wouldn't mind a comparison as well. All of my electronics came from my 4-Site 250. It died a horrible death when the wind picked up one day.

I'm loving this build so far. So much of it is already done. The jigs are awesome. Every foamie should come with those. I built my 4 Site over three nights. We'll see how long this one takes with the UHU. I'm really liking that stuff too. It's clear, easy to clean up and covers very well with only a small amount.

Is Hot Stuff UFO glue any good? It was the only thin foam safe CA I could find at Tower Hobbies.

Hmmm........how does the Extra 330 SC compare to the Micro 4-Site?

These are really two totally different airplanes. The Micro 4-Site has a much faster roll rate than does the 330 SC. The Micro 4-Site also takes a lot more work to hover than does the 330 SC. The 330 SC has a stronger power setup with the GP Rimfire 250/8 x 4 prop/GP 2s 300mah battery pack combo than does the stock 4-Site gear.

The 4-Site does have the knife edge advantage over the 330 SC though. Both are fairly stable in upright and inverted harriers. The 330 SC is definitely more capable in winds of 0-5 mph than is the 1.2 oz 4-Site.

Hope that helps out some.

Don't get confused now.

The Micro 4-Site and the 4-Site are two different planes.

The 4-Site and the Extra 330SC are very similar in size and weight and use the same electronics. A comparison between those two would be sweet. As soon as mine is finished and maidened, I'll be able to make that comparison.

I can tell you that building the two is a world of difference. The 4-Site, being a bipe and all, has more control surfaces to deal with and those little carbon rods they use for control horns were terrible to get aligned. I messed with aileron differential and servo throws for weeks before I got it right and it STILL never rolled like a bipe should roll.

The Extra 330 does not have any of these problems. The control horns only fit one way and are nearly impossible to screw up. It even comes with a servo arm extension. I had to make my own for the 4-Site. The fit of the foam is pretty much the same for both planes but the Extra has a much better motor mount that actually helps align the front end. Plus, it comes with those wonderful jigs to ensure the fuse glue joints are perpendicular and the wings are straight and true. No sanding control surface edges, no taping, the plane is half built right out of the box. They've even assembled the landing gear!

So far, the Extra 330SC has been a delight to build. I remember cussing a lot at my 4-Site during its build.
