SoCal: 6 February 2010 Torrey Pines Gulls F3K Contest

The second handlaunch content of the 2010 Monthly TPG F3K Contest Series is approaching in just a couple weeks. We all had a great time in January and are looking forward to another great afternoon of DLGs in San Diego. Come join us. Remember the rule: if you have a plane, you have to fly!

Please post your name, frequency, and class (open or sportsman) here if you plan to attend in February.

Details:
  • Event: TPG Monthly F3K Contest
  • Date: Sat, 6 Feb 2010
  • Time: 12:45pm pilot's meeting, 1pm start. May start earlier if we need more than two flight groups per round. We should finish by about 4pm.
  • Contest format: 6 rounds, 2 flight groups per round.
  • Contest Director: Brad Willoughby
  • Location: TPG field in Encinitas, CA.
  • Classes: Open and Sportsman
  • Cost: $5.00 entry fee

Tasks:

All tasks directly from FAI F3K 2010 rules (starting on page 24) except that there will be no official timers provided. Contest audio will run continuously from start to finish with short pauses for breaks as needed.
  1. Task G - Five longest flights, 120s max, 10-min window
  2. Task D - Increasing time by 15 seconds, 10-min window
  3. Task H - 1,2,3,4 any order, 10-min window
  4. Task F - Best 3 of 6, 180s max, 10-min window
  5. Task E - Poker - variable target time, max of 5 flights achieved, 10-min window
  6. Task C - All up, last down, 180s max, 3 launches

Yeah, I guess it will. Darn. Based on that, I've changed the start time to 12:45pm.

Ahh, some much needed practice. Any word on the CD or the tasks? I am looking forward to improving this season through regular local contests.

Any of the new faces from last month coming back out?

I'll be the CD and the tasks are posted above in the original announcement. I'm planning on 6 rounds with 2 flights groups per round. If we get enough pilots to warrant three flight groups per round, we'll pull the start time in a little earlier so we still finish by around 4pm.
