What are the practical differences of the Lawmate tx/rx combos at 1 watt between the 1.2ghz and 2.4ghz band?

I only want to compare Lawmate to Lawmate and only same power to same power. Aside from the band they operate in, keep all other variables the same.

I would be curious too to know the answer!

I own both. I get much greater range with the 2.4 system. My 1.2 tx also seems to get hotter. They look identical to one another so don't remove the sticker or you can get them mixed up.

would be interesting to know why the 2.4 gets more range... i was thinking about the 1.2 (1.28) but this news makes me re-think about it!

My only explanation is that frequency set isn't as clean in my area or the receiver isn't as sensitive.

reading thru threads (i'm not expert) i agree with sensitivity of receiver, which in 2.4g has been better developed. but only my opinion from thread reading

Somehow long ago I had dismissed the 1.2ghz systems as poor performers compared to the 2.4ghz systems by the same manufacturer and so the reason for this post was to see if my myth on the performance was true or not. So far the myth I believed in is plausible, including more limited range and lower sensitivity.

I'm aware of the legal channel limitations of both transmitters. Maybe I should clarify that this thread is about practical performance differences. So let's leave the legal discussion alone.

with a great video tx and rx that are set to that frequecy
ie antenna length and specific tuneing

Are you saying the 1.2 tx/rx inherently performs better on some channels than others?

yes some frequencies will work better than others

depending on the enviroment

including the area you fly and what is installed in your plane and ground station

In theory 1.2 GHZ should go further than 2.4 GHZ, but the theory does not take into account that the 2.4 GHZ video equipment is made better, and that the receivers are better.

So in reality, the 900 MHZ and 1.2 GHZ equipment has shorter range than 2.4 GHZ. Its not a matter or theory, or clean or dirty frequencies, it comes down ot the capability of the electronics. 2.4 GHZ video equipment has bee much better developed with better receivers and the range is much better.

what is being used in your area

and what equipment you use for fpv

and which 1.2 or 2.4 sytem you use and antnnas etc.
