We're looking at a Spring Release. Once we get a sample, we'll start working out what will be included.

If you need some pre-release testers, we're still very active up here with a winter program of EF-1 races going on.

Will it be ready in time for SEFF 2011? Please let me know when it will be available for purchase. I've got the motors, ESC and batteries on standby.

Working on testing some Hacker motors in a Pogo. What RPM should you get with one of the approved motors and an APC 8 x 8 prop, using 4S 2600ma TP LiPo pack? Trying the A40-12S (8 pole) and the A30-8XL motors.
Thanks,
Bob

You should be somewhere around 13500rpm on the stock rig. Your a40 is closer in kv to my scorpion... and a few extra grams won't hurt at all if you get similar power. It might be better as you'll be easier on your packs. I would think your a40 should tag 16500 on the 8x8, maybe better depending on how much the extra mass helps. I hope you get some good data as it may be a great 'performance' choice. Your other hacker is close to stock, but likely more efficient motor. Both seem like great choices. The A30 I'd love to see approved for the class, along with others.

Good luck. Look forward to seeing the results.

Bruff,

I am getting 13,800 on the E-flite motor and APC 8x8e prop, E-flite 4S-2500 mAh packs and aluminum spinner. Runs 2.5 to 3 minutes all out and consumes 1800-mAh of the pack.

Same here Bruff with stock eflight motor and Turingy 2650 4s 40c pack. Motor starts off at around 14,500 and stabilizes at the mid 13's. After 11 laps on the 2 pole course im putting back in around 1500mah to 1700mah

Bruff,

If you really want to know if its close to an approved motor you should input 10VDC into an ESC via a power supply and then check motor rpms without a prop ie no load. It should be near 12,500 rpms. Then your in check with approved motors. ie 1250KV means 1 revolution per kilovolt. NO LOAD

One thing about cheap brand motors is when doing this test they will be all over the map as consistancy in winding is an afterthought next to piece work.

Unlike buyings Nelson for Q40/Q500 where one does'nt hear the "I GOT A GOOD ONE" , One might have to buy a dozen Turnigy to find "the good one".

The above mentioned static test should be part of a dispute protocol resolution. A whole lot simpler than blueprinting.

Nelsons,, yeah they do ,, I have been at races, and it is obvious that there are MORE equal ones than others,, HOwever your basic premise is very sound regarding the Turnigy and cheaper motors, If they are "the " class motor, I think you will find it neccessary to purchase 8 or 12 motors, test them to find a few decent ones, and maybe get lucky and get a good one.. that or you will see people "blueprinting" them rewinds, bearings, trueing cases,,
Hackers , I have been looking at my A30-8xl,, and at the plans for my Thuncerchicken,, hmm it looks pretty good to me,, sadly its not an approved motor,,

Thanks, this is why Hacker is testing/flying the motors. They want to get one approved. Trying to see which would do better to meet the standard requirements, before sending motors in for approval. Problem is Hacker does not have 1250 kv motor, A30-8XL 1100kv & A40-12S 1350 kv.
Thanks for the input. I'll keep everyone updated.

got a pic or link to advertisement?

Never mind i found it on hangar 9's website. Im curious as well.

Looks like it might be a little bit heavy though with the added strength needed for a glow engine.
