Some serious weather. I have not seen it that bad in a long time.

I guess no one in the Chicago area (including myself) will be doing any flying today:

AT 744 AM...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED STRONG
THUNDERSTORMS ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM LAKE SUMMERSET TO 36 MILES
EAST OF HANGING GROVE...MOVING NORTHEAST AT 40 MPH.

ONE HALF INCH DIAMETER HAIL...WINDS GREATER THAN 40 MPH...FREQUENT
CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING...BRIEF MODERATE DOWNPOURS...ARE POSSIBLE
WITH THESE STORMS.

LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE...
MACHESNEY PARK... YORK CENTER... CAROL STREAM...
BURBANK... WESTERN SPRINGS... OAK BROOK...
LOVES PARK... HODGKINS... HAMPSHIRE...
BELVIDERE... OAK LAWN... COUNTRYSIDE...

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

GUSTY WINDS MAY CAUSE SMALL OBJECTS SUCH AS TRASH BINS TO BLOW
AROUND. STAY AWAY FROM HIGH OBJECTS OUTDOORS SUCH AS TREES. HEAVY
RAINFALL CAN LEAD TO FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS SUCH AS DITCHES...
VIADUCTS...UNDERPASSES...CREEKS AND DRAINAGE AREAS. SEEK SHELTER IN A
STURDY STRUCTURE UNTIL THESE STORMS HAVE PASSED.

Hoping that by Friday the weather will settle down...looks like sunny and winds 10-15...definitely better weather than today!

I had granola for breakfast...waffles and bacon would have been much better!

My Su-26 is ready for the first engine start, and hopefully a maiden soon after that. Hoping to start the engine for the first time this weekend.

-Mike

Been rain and flooding in this area. Billings, MT 100 miles east of here got 3" of rain yesterday. That brings their yearly precipitation to 12" and normal total precipitation for the year is 15". Got 2" of rain here yesterday and everything is a mess. We never get that much in one storm. Arrrrh.

The Almighty is trying to tell you people down there it's time to move to some part of the country that has better weather. Good weather here as evidenced by pictures taken at our flying field yesterday. Mosquito abatement. (mosquitos are against the law here)

Just ordered up a Twist 60 so i can join this rowdy group, hehe. Going to put an ASP 91 FS in it and have some fun. My kid already has a 40 with a Saito 72 and he loves it....although it is in for a repair. The wind blew it off the run table at our club abd sheared the elevator off at the hinges She will hopefully be up by the weekend though

What is the general consensus on a starting CG? 5 1/4"?

I've got a T__T 60 with a Magnum .91 on it; flies great. Not sure what the CG is! I'll check when I get home from work tonight. It hovers and does all kinds of fun stuff; pullouts from a hover are not quick, however, so you do have to be a bit careful. I'm contemplating the idea of putting my Saito 1.15 back on this thing to have more power, but I haven't wanted to take the time to do that right now. Besides, she flies pretty good just as she is.

I had a plane blow off the table a week or two ago (:<) ripped the rudder right off the plane; that one is repaired and flying again now!

When that helicopter is done there, send him our way; I'm sure after all this rain the mosquito's will be out in force next month, even though they are illegal here too!

That's good news Plow. Hope it remains that way.

Hope and prayers to all you in harm's way. Guess I'll quit snivveling about a little rain.

I don't think a 91 4 stk is enough engine. I had a 91FX with MACs muffler and I would not want to go down from there. JMHO.

Looking for some great pics.

The replacement muffler came in for the JBA. I might get that assembled this afternoon.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a fly day.

I am buddy boxing with the guy that bought my FunCub. It is a lot of fun. It has been handling 15mph wind really well. I have not worked with the flaps a lot yet.

Are you up here now? If you are you may have to go on I 94 or back track on I 15 down to 80. It is definitely a mess east of here. The Shields river around here is the only major river out of it's banks. 7' when flood stage is 5.5'.
