One day i would like to try the 123's

going back to electrics for a week or two

gliders are my real passion

chargeing up batteries now

going for f5b type flying as long as the sun don't shine

i need lots of space to zoom around and the sun makes it not worth the flight time

gets right in the way

then back to fpv
where the sun or clouds or night don't make a difference

Love to jump around from plane to plane

twist 40 with 46 is still my favorite plane

LiFe rx packs are FTW

A little more nutz than 5-cell NiXX, and no regulator to fail on you. Pretty much awesome.

I have not used those but I see no reason why they are bad. Generally though A123 is considered the best LiFe cell.

I got a great deal on a bunch of black and decker vpx batteries which use a123 so I make my own.

I would not use 5 cell or a123 rx packs with Thomas' LRS. He indicates a max of 6 volts which both of these packs exceed when fully charged. Both work great with spektrum and fasst receivers though.

no problem so far

I did not know the life rx packs were 123 type?

The problem for me is if i go to 123's i need to buy another charger

All batteries charge to a higher non-loaded voltage than they are rated for. They quickly burn that off to the nominal rated voltage.

5 cell packs are well worth it in torque and speed. (We did recommend them)

Life or a 5 cell pack is a better option than an Lipo and regulator with fewer fail options.

Here is an inexpensive charger that will charge all your electron buckets. http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=7028

I think you will be happy with the lighter tt60. I would reconsider changing the engine until you get all the other stuff out. I recommend changing one thing at a time so you can observe the results of that change.

If you go two stroke on the TT60 a 61 probably would not be the best alternative. I have a 91FX on mine. If you want more speed on the tt60, increase the pitch. If you want super speed, then a 95AX or at least a 75 would be a better match. JMHO.

thanks for the link

Ok I will keep the engine

speed is not what i want

I was looking for the characteristics of the twist 40 and 46 combo

light and feathery

No way I could enter the twist 60 the way it is, so heavy, into the "ho down" lol

Yeah David, what Wayne said. Give that plane and engine combo a chance without the cg machine and the smoke system. Make it light and powerful and you will win the ho down with her.....maybe.

Thomas indicates a input voltage of 4-6 for every receiver on his webpage. Not sure what the kill voltage is.

HARDWARE RX UNIT (version 3.30 RX NR Normal Range for visual flights)
The RX unit is designed for 4-6V supply (4 -5 nimh cells or 5V BEC)
Full performance is expected in the 4-6V range
Supply current at 5V = 20mA
RF senstivity = -102 dBm at 10% BER (or better) Normal Range type
Damage will ocur if reverse supply voltage and if supply is higher than 9V.
The Normal range RX have no LED indicators
Wire antenna on the board.

David - The Saito 1.25 is about the same weight as my 91FX but it can swing a 16x4W prop with authority and trumps my 91FX in my opinion. Give it a go before you let it go.

If you want to fire sale that 1.25, I want it.
