Cable is enough, the interface was intended at the origins for the V1 receivers upgrade, and is used now in Futaba receivers upgrade process only.
But... you still need to adapt the pinout of black connector to the receiver, as explained here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...9#post17169119

Thanks that was it. Had to reflash it and later re-bind will all my RX's.
Not sure how that thing got into that state.

If Frsky is listening, it would be good to have a way to reset the module without no extra tool required!

Im about to order:
http://www.alofthobbies.com/futaba-t...ry-module.html
http://www.alofthobbies.com/frsky-d8r-xp.html
http://www.alofthobbies.com/40cm-receiver-antenna.html
This is all I need for 1 km solid on my kk2 tricopter? Is there a way to extend the TX antennae so its not behind the Futaba TX back?
I dont need the CCPM, but its the same price so might as well for upgradeability as its the same quality as the other RX?

Depends on your video gear. For me the 900Mhz totally kills the FrSky RX.
The best I could do was 600mts, today for example the alarm started kicking in at 300mts.
(haven't tried the balun antennas like that one yet, have a couple on it's way now. A friend with the same video gear as I do tried and got better results with them)

What power is the 900Mhz gear you're talking about? I'm assuming it's video rather than something like the 3DR Radio's used on APM's

Flown this weekend at 650 meters distance, testing an ArduPlane setup, telemetry using 868MHz, but in low power mode 10mW.
RC not influenced at all by telemetry, both quite close on an EZ*.

I'm using 500mW. I mentioned it as you said you're going to use it with a KK, so a multicopter, where the space is not much and electronics are too close together.

(speaking of balun antennas and they just arrived, hope to try them out soon. )

Look under FrSky. I think we are in the 200s unless it has changed.

Don't see it there either, I do hope to see you there however. If I understand there will not be any for sale? Will you have other FrSky products available?

Where are you getting a 2013 Exhibitors List for Toledo? The only list I can find on line says "2012 Exhibitors List" at the top so I'm assuming it is last years.

Could someone explain the advantages of the new Frsky radio compared to putting the brand new modules that are coming out soon into a radio such as the Futaba 9C which I currently have? Also, when is the module that is going to be compatable with the new long range RX's expected to be released. I understand the Spectrum version is coming first but wonder when the Futaba version will be available.

I assume that with the plug in module approach it will be necessary to use switches on the module to switch between the new long range one way RX and telemetry RX's. Woul d this also be the case for the new radio,

Will the new radio bind to specific models, a feature not available with the plug in modules.

Is the build quality of the new radio comparable to a radio such as the Futaba 9C? (I like my 9C a lot).

Thanks.

The main one is telemetry, on-screen and speech. Second is model match type feature. 3rd is no DIP switches, settings can be stored along with the model settings.

Forth, but not the least, low latency. The new transmitters do not have the latency associated with the modules on the PPM line.

Thanks guys, that is a lot of really nice features. I like them all, especially the ability to connect up to the RX without dip switches. Plus I guess I won't have to wait for the Futaba modules to come out. Does anyone know when this radio and the new LR one way RX's are going to hit the street?

One more question: will the new radio bind on a model specific basis even with the current generation of RXs like the DR8IIplus.?
