I think our stock issues for FrSky are solved. Now if I could only get our airplane stocks up... Arghh...

Hi Gang

I have recently purchased a FrSky V8FR-II receiver but I am buggered how to connect it to my Nova OSD to obtain RSSI.

I have written to FrSky and I was recommended the D8R-XP receiver. I have read the instructions and it talks about running a jumper between CH3 and CH4 to get CPPM and RSSI. I understand that CPPM stands for Combined Pulse Position Modulation but I cant seem to find much more information that that?

I wrote to FrSky again asking to clarify and received the following response;

Quote:
The CPPM is stand for Combine PPM signal output, "If CH3 and CH4 are connected by a jumper, CH1 will output CPPM for CH1~CH8"is mean the PPM signal of CH1 ~ CH8 will combine output in ONE channel.

There blow two solutions for your reference as per your condition:

1;- it is suggest priority select the CPPM-decoding-support OSD, so that even through the ch3 & ch4 was blocked by the jumper still can obtain the complete PPM signal of CH1~CH8.

2;- if this OSD is not support CPPM signal, you should apply a third party adapter device: FrSky RSSI-DAC (3in1) Converter

Check detail in linking: http://www.rc-miskolc.emiter.hu/rc-m...124&Itemid=122

You can easy to purchase it from Ebay. If this adapter used, all D8R-series receiver (D8R-II plus/D8R-XP etc.) and D4R-II receiver will works!
OPTION 1

What do they mean by;

Quote:
priority select the CPPM decoding support OSD
If there is a jumper between CH3 and CH4 (signal pin I assume) how do I connect THROTTLE and RUDDER?

OPTION 2

I had a look at the suggested link. The opening sentence states;

Quote:
This development is a 3-in-1 electronics. FPV is a most important task of the applications required for RSSI -> DAC converter FrSky D8R V2 (also D8R-II, D8R-II Plus) receivers.
On the face of it this product "looks" like it works. What exactly it does I couldn't tell you.

Could someone please explain to me in plain English what this is all about?

Kind Regards

Jason

I've read in an advertize that connecting CH3 and 4 on the VD5M it will output CPPM.
I suppose it's a mistake. Anybody tested?

Not true for that receiver, but for D4FR.
Wrong copy pasted specs from other receiver.

I'm 3 hours away from Aloft. When I buy something at 4pm or so he ship it within an hour. And I receive it next day or in two days and that is just first class. Prices are cheaper. I've bought couple receivers and module from the guy. Great people to deal with. Screw everybody else.

Oh and he is sending out with free Aloft Hobbies Frsky stickers. For fweee

First of my Jets to use the Frsky system, NavyCat (Falcon 120) fitted with a JetCat P60, 3 successful first flights this evening all went well. Range checking happens fast

D8R-II plus receiver DJT module in JR 9XII radio

Also have a hub fitted and a fuel level sensor but not hooked up yet.

Would love some how to hook the telemetry to the ECU to get RPM and EGT,
Or even get the FrSky rpm sensor to read up to 165,000

I think the RPM sensor is for brushless motors, but anyway that's a nice plane!

Nope - it's optical

What is the RPM limit on the sensor? Lots of ESCs go to over 200,000 electrical RPM. That would be 30,000 mechanical RPM on a 14 pole outrunner.
