Any flavor of D8R receivers, including the 2 years old V1 from first batch can be reflashed with any of these CPPM firmwares.

For the second, read my posts above, from yesterday

If it was on purpose it wouldn't be better.
Thanks!

lol! why not call it "ppm" which has been the standard term for decades (until recently here on rcg). there is no such thiing as "uncombined" ppm or ppm "non-summed".

I use it in all my Multicopters with FrSky to avoid the wiring mess from RX to FlightController.

I have the D8R-II, so it will be the first approach. Have the CPPM on ch8 and try and tap into the
led to get RSSI.

What you mean by unofficial firmware? Is there a fw out there that I can use in the D8R-II to
make it behave like the D8RX? If so where can I get it.
If you want CPPM and RSSI do the LED diode mod on the V8R7SP PWM RSSI. Works perfect! And takes 5 minutes to do.

Indeed, for people not using PPM, the above is the only solution.
Don't forget that in D8R-XP RSSI comes with PPM together, and replace channels 1...4, no choice to have RSSI alone if not flying a PPM platform driven.

Indeed, calling it just PPM would be enough, that's what's been used for year in radios.

Either way I've just flashed the RX and it is now working perfectly.
Off to the park to test it.

Thanks!

i also run a very old pc. people here and in The Real World make fun of me. in many ways the old ones were better. for example to program an atmel avr, ANY avr, you dont have to wait a month for usbasp from china or buy a $50 dragon. 4 wires to a printer port does the trick. then theres the serial port issue. usb aint always the solution. im lucky to have all the above on my pc but thats rare.

i also believe linux is a superior os. but you have pretty much run across its biggest drawback. APPLICATIONS!

There are quite a few programs. Sorry guys, I just asked a simple question... it's a yes or no question.. I don't want to cause trouble here..
I'll do what I should have done.. If I find the answer I'll post it here.. Thanks again
