@Ketan : wrong thread, man. The v911 thread is over in the micro-heli forum.

EDIT : I neglected to follow my own rules of etiquette... Here's the link to the V911 thread link.

First, I can't believe someone pulled the trigger on a new guy (Ketan) for cross posting THEN couldn't even give him a link for the proper thread

Yah, well, he's spammed a bunch of threads beyond this one with the same post so it wasn't just a one-off. Turns out he also posted his video in the V911 thread so he knows where things are...

However, you're right. If I was going to take the time to post where to find the thread, I should have given the URL as well! Edited.

You are right Robo. Excuse me for coming off like a junk yard dog. I'm learning more about this member

Up date on the shaft drive tail mod

Well I finely received the parts I needed to continue with the tail shaft drive.
I found the R5 CB will work if I shave of a little on the main body mount and bend back the gyro tower. The motor that runs the tail shaft is a 7mm s107 main motor. After installing the motor I did a RPM test. I am getting 43.000 RPM. The motors that come with the ZR1-GT kit is 34. to 36.000 RPM. This RPM gene and the fact that the shaft drive tail boom is lighter then the ZR!-GT tail manes that the forward speed will be better and the carbon fiber fly bar will sustain the forward momentum. This thing should kick ass. I hope.

wow lookin good, mark.

how did you measure the motor rpm? also how did you get the motors to mate to both sets of drive gears? looks like you moved alot of things around

also, if you want EVEN MORE forward speed, the V911 tail blade fits nicely on the 0.8mm tail motor shaft

i disconnected the main motors so i could give it throttle without it taking off, then i punched the tail to full a couple times...check out the vid...S107 almost does front flips

i made this vid a while ago:
S107 w/ V911 Tail Blade Thrust Preview (0 min 57 sec)

I used two different gears to get the two shafts together. One with a .97mm bore and the other a .79.mm bore. The tail shaft is 1mm and the motor shaft is .78
The RPMs are tested with a inferred hand held tester. I got mine from eBay for around 15.00

SAF, interesting progress. I see that you're not using the verticle PCB that you were once working on. And I think you've relocated the main motors to make room for the tail motor. I don't quite see how you're going to drive the coaxial. But that's okay. You are still developing this and you don't need to reveal everything to us. I wish you luck, my friend. Keep up the good work.

Tail shaft mod

The drive gears for the main shafts are in. The front of the main body is from the syma s109. The back half is from the s107. They ware spliced together using CF epoxy and mixed with a little CF dust to give it a little more strength. I looked at several main body’s and this one seems to work the best. I wonted to bring all the components as close to each other as possible to reduce the weight and the kick back when stopping the heli. I will be sharing all the info on this heli and working with anyone that wants to start this project themselves.

Pure unabashed experimentation into the outer limits of the 107's flying frontier!

(hey, he'll be the one laughing when he discovers a way to pitch the tail-rotor at some weird angle,... and ends up with the first S107 in history that does 35MPH in FFF)
