Is there a certain group of Symas that are based off of the 107? I'd like to be able to get different helis that could still part out to fix each other. Also, if I did that, would I end up with different techical revisions of the 107 and would I care?
For example, I see Syma is releasing new color schemes to combat counterfeits. Are they also functionally different?

So does mine. And so does the 2 different 2012 red ones I've ordered and the 2 different green ones I've ordered and 1 of the 2 different white ones I've ordered.

Just a side note: the s107g is waterproof... I submerged mine in the sink accidentally and it's fine. It went down to the flybar for a few seconds. The small LED on the PCB didn't go out. I just dried it up with my wives hair dryer and disconnected the battery to be sure but it's OK!

John, your question have a 2-part answer. Part 1, mechanically, S107 shares many of the same parts with S105, S108, S109, S111, S026, and S002. But (part 2), electronically, it is only compatible with S105, S109, and S111. S026 and S108 share a different control protocol. I'm not sure about S002.

The new 2012 color scheme is every bit the same mechanically and electronically with the classic S107s, just decorative differences.

Dead on arrival controller
So much for a new helicopter. I bought mine from Amazon.com. Got home tonight, opened the box, started charging the lipo. I popped in some batteries, switched it on and the green light turned on. I install the cover or press the AA's and the green light goes OFF. I assume that means the power to the controller is off. The controller rattle when I shake it a bit. Amazingly, QC2 sticker is stuck to the inside of the battery bay.

Do I just return it for a refund or is it a known problem that can be fixed if I open the controller?

I did open it but everything looked good so I did what I should have done first. I cleaned the contact surfaces in the battery box with an abrasive. All is good. What a hoot! It flies great.

In some of the controlers you have to bend the connectpoint a little bit with a screw driver. Aspecially the PLUS (+) side of the batteries don't touch the controler contacts very well.

i had exactly that same problem on one of my new meritlines. when the cover is installed my green power light went off. in my case turned out to be those ridiculous white plastic "separators". after yanking them out with a pair of pliers everything worked fine.

does anyone know what function those serve (other than cause trouble)?
