VERTIBIRD! My older brother had one of those! I was just telling my wife about it when she asked why I like to fly the S107. Brings back good memories of good times!

My gosh...yes!

I had several iterations of that "game" back in the early 70s. I think one was a Batman theme where you had to pick up criminals with the copter's hook and drop them in a jail.

Just found it:

Why thank you, that was a lucky pick with a brand new s107 back in december 2010. Since then I have spent way too much money on other helis but my skills are vastly improved. When I got an MCX tandem, one of the first things I did was build a grappling hook and start trying to pick stuff up. Very challenging and an excellent way to hone your piloting skills when you make the jump to 4 channel.

LUCKY!!! Man I felt blessed to have the one I finally got my hands on. My mom was not big on buying me boy toys as a kid and that probably explains a lot about my current interests. Depraved on account of I'm deprived officer Krupke! I'm lucky to have such an understanding and supportive wife now. I told her RC stuff was my midlife crisis. No sportscars, no drug addictions and she's the only hot blonde I'll ever need.

OK guys, I have another REAL or FAKE one for you.
Stopped home on my lunch break and found a package on my porch.

The new heli is yellow and pictured below the red one.

Observations:
-didn't come in a 19" box, it's slightly smaller
-the ends of the metal bars on the skid plate are white, not black
-controller has a metal twist-tie holding it in
-controller says <<GYRO>>, instead of \\GRRO//
-Board is a Red R5
-2 white motor tops
-ordered from A-Xheli through Amazon

So what do you guys think? Real or fake?

The $39 deal from Meritline is for new helis.
What we mean by no box is that they do not come in a cardboard box...they are just placed into plastic bags and shipped.
The original Syma box is still there......just no outer "protective" box.

Blade Replacement Hawkspy

Due to a crash, I replaced the blades on my Hawkspy LT-711. The rotation of the blades sound like they are hitting during rotation and I am unable to lift off.
Does anyone have any input on what else I can troubleshoot to get this back up and running?

The R5 board makes it genuine.

LOL. You learn fast. Every married man needs to learn to say; "Yes dear", and how to sweet talk.
It's kept me alive for 44 years.

Thanks for the tip Heli Pad. I just ordered a pair. Now I will have a backup and one to give as a gift.

Hi all, I just got the S107g about a week ago and love it. Now tonight while I was showing a buddy the heli in the kitchen, it bounced off his cabinet and fell in a sink of soapy water. It seems more or less dry but now it only spins rapidly to the right. Has anyone else had this problem? I was about to get a s110, but it now seems I may be getting a new 107.

XDRoX, It's a GENUINE S107.

Genuine SYMA comes in two major type of packaging. The larger one uses FOAM inside. The smaller one uses clear molded plastic. The latter requires a wire twist to hold the Tx. The former doesn't because the Tx is 'underneath' the foam. Personally, I do prefer the foam packaging, as it is more rigid and offers better protection to the contents. All the other minor differences you've mentioned are just production lines variations. I've seen them all of the above.

I assume that it doesn't have enough thrust to lift off? While it's spinning rapidly to the right, what are the upper blades doing? Do they seem spinning kinda slow, or not at all?

If they are spinning kinda of slow, I think the upper blades are slipping. Between the crash and the soapy water, the head assembly is no longer attached to the inner shaft. If this is the case, loosen the two locking screws just below the top flybar, and pull the entire head assemble off the shaft. Observe the cut notch just 2mm below the top of the shaft, re-seat the head assembly, carefully align the locking screw onto the said notch, and lock everything up.

If the upper blades are not spinning at all, either the rear main motor or some transistor on the PCB is damaged. You would need to further isolate the problem and replace failed component.

Wrong thread, sir. There is a Hawkspy LT-711/712 thread on the forum. I'm on that, too. Shall I see you over there, and I'll answer your question there?
