I'm looking at getting a micro heli, and this one seems like a good choice for some fun. But: is the battery integrated into the helicopter, or can it be removed? Ideally, I'd be able to fly a pack through it, swap batteries, and take it up again. But I'm under the impressions that that isn't the case for this heli. Can anyone offer some insight?

Hi again, short answer: NO.
The battery of this lil heli is soldered in and located inside of the canopy for balance. There have been a number of attempts to do what you have been thinking, but I have yet to see one that I'm happy with. You could read more discussions HERE. Since they are rather inexpensive, my simple solution is to buy a couple of them.

ALDIs' S107
Made it to ALDIs' this morning and came home with two S107s'. Here are some pics. There are differences. The USB charge has a round jack and operates the same. Forward and Reverse speed is really fast. Looks are identical (except the charger port). Here is my first picture review:

I picked up 3 of the Aldi S107's today also, (2 for gifts). The local store near me only had about a dozen of them and only Red and Blue. The round plug charger and jack are different and my old S107 transmitter did not seem to want to bind with this new helicopter, so I had to put 6 batteries into the new transmitter.
The throttle pot in the transmitter has the spring enclosed in a metal housing but the end of the spring was attached to a small opening on one side of the metal pot housing and I was able to disconnect it. It flies pretty well and faster than my 1st S107g, but it does swing around a bit when stopping after quick maneuvers. There must be something different in the Gyro setup. Just like my original S107, this new one gets a little hot on the back main motor after 3 minutes. I am afraid 4 or 5 minute or longer flights would not be advised. John |

One thing...the tail motor is backwards from the one for the original S107 and although it is a lot faster than the original, you can stick a picco z tail rotor without turning the assembly upside down...the charge jack is ok with me...no chance of trying to stick it in wrong. Lots quieter and in the air looks the same to me...I am happy! May get a red one...was looking for yellow one but no one had one....sigh....! |
