Ritewing Lightning 48" AP platform

Did this one a bit different, no PU glue (used hotglue) no rite weave - using laminating film, and a large cutout on CG to hold a camera

Is this your own design? If so, would you be willing to e-mail a PDF of your dimensions and airfoil sections? I've been working on my own design- my first "from scratch" airplane- and it would be helpful to have something to benchmark it against.

Also, what is your power system to achieve 70 mph?

thanks!

Hey Andy,

Not my own design, this is a Ritewing from www.ritewingrc.com
http://www.ritewingrc.com/store/index.php?productID=136

The powertrain is a 3S 2650 mah 30C turnigy lipo and a Microdan 2505 Speed 2900kv motor on a 6 by 4 sport prop http://www.gobrushless.com/shop/inde...ef=MD2505-2900

Cool, thanks! Ritewing looks like they have some great product. I'm going to try and build this wing from scratch, but depending upon how the flight characteristics turn out I might be ordering a kit!

Just finished laminating the wing, single layer top and bottow, second layer wraped around LE, back 4 inches top and bottom, third layer on bottom centre 12 inches wide.

Weighed before and afterwards, 90 grams total added weight, feels like a board

How do you plan on triggering the camera?

Camera trigger will probably be by a micro servo pushing the shutter button, will post pics when I sort it.

Will get some photos of the lam film buildup for you, its a sweet deal, I enjoyed doing it and results in a really solid wing

Do wings fly better with the split aileron / elevator vs. elevon? The wing I'm building I'm planning on initially using elevon mixing, but it seems like with the DX6i + 6110 receiver you really don't get the control surface travel you'd get with seperate servos.

Hey Pefozy,

With the DX6i there is a trick to fix that, as the standard DX6i mix for elevons is not rite at all

heres what I do

Put right elevon servo into aileron channel, put left elevon servo into flap channel

Select "dual Aileron" on the DX6i, not elevon mixing.
Then assign mix one Elevator>Flaps 100% in both direction, and enable trim

Now you have an awesome amount of throws, and will need to reduce your travel :-)

Here is a link to a better description http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...35&postcount=8 its a fair way down the post in "green" text

I might get a chance to take some shots of the DX5i screen if the above dosent make sense
