Vintage, that's one of your nicer displays of Rhinoing. Have you begun learning UVW mapping? I take it the text didn't center itself on your wings

Nice presentation.

Konstantin,

You have enough models drawn that you might consider undertaking the work to convert them into flyable simulator models. There is a very regular group of guys over at knife edge software's website (the people who make Real Flight simulator) and my friend Doug Kaye could help with the conversion process, as could several other devoted people.

Give it a shot!

I dunno mate. I just made solid letters, clipped em with the wing surface and knocked the remainder up 5 thou.

As long as the surface curve is not too bad, you cant tell that they are

(a) a bit thicker than the average decal

(b) not quite perfectly proportioned like a decal would be.

I am still struggling with mapping.

Too many planes to do, so little time to learn tricks.

Currently ploughing through the tedium of the last bits of structure and the cutfiles on this one.

Then comes making 2D plans Yuk!

Sheeting is transparent here to show internal details

Its basic Rhino Render Kontsantin. Comes with Rhino.

Background is a stock sky shot I took on a sunny day in the back garden.

The balsa stuff is pictures of balsawood I took.

The rest is down to handling the render and material properties and spending far too much time playing with it

You can straighten the balsa grain on your ailerons in two ways:
  1. Make a second texture file with the grain rotated 90 degrees
  2. Manipulate the mapping under the object properties.

That's just a start, but you'll find it intuitive to apply texture files to objects once you poke around in there a bit.

Oh I know how to do it, I was just in a hurry.

I only textured them to remind me what they were made of.
