Hi again

This is my second Corvette and I love them. Strong ships for little waves and has many space for putting whatever you want. Playing slowly on the pond is also another pleasure

As the first one, I used 550 sized regular motors with 12 V batteries. I put Robbe Light Sets and a smoke generator on it which are using seperate 6V battery packs.

On the other hand, all tents are made from Tamiya Epoxy Putty. Both, 4 inch Mk IX and Bofor are controlled by two mini servos. I'm also planning to use a cheap mp3 player as the sound generator

Did that model come with drawings of the hull? I want to scratch build a ship that shares the hull design of the flower class vessels but don't have any drawings...

It has 85cm length and apprx. 13cm witdh.

Sorry, but the drawings of the plan is in wrong scale. For a general idea they may help, but that's it.

I'm surprised "Reid" has not dropped in here to comment yet. Or maybe, he did and dropped dead when he saw your Flower Class Corvette, since he loves them so much!

I am wondering about what you guys use to bond and seal the hull and build the rest of the boat?.

and how are you guys doing your access spots?

I have been using West systems products and "standard" modelling glue (tube and liquid) for all the rest of my boats.. with hot glue and JB weld here and there.

I was thinking MarineTex for the hull peices and main deck... and G5 epoxy for the ribbing, larger structure peices, and model glue for all the little details.

I also want to give water based acylic painting a try with this model (so I can start it earlier and paint in the basement!)

any recommendations for painting and finishing with this stuff?

i just used model putty but any sort of epoxy resin or something like that will work well.

well for the access, i use the mine deck and the engine room housing. Some people do it in two sections or you can do it in one big section. Also, if you won't want to use the whole middle deck section, you can always cut a panel into it.

i have never heard of West system modeling glue, if it works well on styrene and gives a good bond i don't see why, i used super glue...

i would be careful using hotglue as it doesn't really bond that well to plastic.
JB Weld will be fine for engine mounting and stuff... very strong stuff there...

Sounds like you got it pretty well figured out glue wise... before i putt the ribs in and such i would mark out where everything is going and how you are going to be able to access it... that way you don't have a rib right over where the battery was going to go....

for paints... i used Tamiya paints thinned with Tamiya thinner... there are lots of good actylic paints out there, it really depends on who has the right color... i would stay way from gaming paints like the warhammer stuff...

the thing that really helps build a nice corvette are photos... the link to Ceb's build has lots of good photos in it about page 5 i think.
