it is bad to turn the rates down... Doing so, you lose alot of your torque and that is no good. you should put your linkege further in to prevent blow back. I like at to be between 120% and 150%.

I wound up test flying this morning and I think i'm going to make a little mod on the aileron linkages, kinda feels like they're flexing. I'm using digitals that have 3x more torque than this plane needs, and haven't noticed any blowback on them.

I turned the rates back up to 100% on the ailerons- elevator and rudder are fine for me.

What i'm going to do is make a carbon/piano wire pushrod like the tailfeathers. Not concerned about the weight, it's already light enough

For the best mechanical advantage, you want to run the shortest servo arm you can get away with. What I try to do is set my ATV to maximum (125%) and then use the servo arm hole that gets me the throw I want. I do this whether it's for a 3D airplane or a precision airplane.

You get the best mechanical advantage AND the best resolution out of your radio/servos.

Servos are rated at their power level 1 inch out from center, so you can see how the torque would increase/decrease depending on how far in/out you set the linkage.

I have my linkages set about 3/4" out. I find that the surface speed actually increased when I made all of my linkage geometry
correct.

In all honesty, my rudder linkage is the only surface that i've turned up to 125% EPA and set 125% D/R (max on the Optic 6) and it's just about half an inch out from the elevator, BUT, it is the slowest moving surface I have. I kinda set it up traditionally, but with the linkages, it's very tight, and doesn't get blowback very easily, even pushing on the surface.

Talking to a couple friends, they say what i have is perfect, and I can fine tune from there. Need to get some tightened up aileron linkages and such, then fine tune before I start making a video for FlopGuns freestyle contest

I might just setup dual rates on this one too, because I've found that it loves long lines too

You can do it. The only problem is you won't be able to add in EXPO, unless it has an EXPO setting. The travel you should be able to control with the ATV settings.

Wrapped up the color scheme on my Yak55. Waiting until the heat goes down to about 80* (99 right now ) before I will go out and do some more trimming.

Gotta make a mental note to do paint before the parts get glued together..

Yeah, well the bottom of the nose looks less sweet now. One of my aileron servos locked up, and in she went. Was in a nice blender, then went to stop the roll and no control.

I had pulled up elevator just in time, and it settled in nice and flat. Nose took all of the damage though. Oh well, a little CA, and a zip tie..

This is the second time one of my Coronas has taken a dump on me. Looks like they're being abandoned and in go the HS65HB's

I think i'm going to buy a pair of HS65HB's from the HS next time. Rudder servo seems fine.

Not sure, probably the motor (theyre digital, no pot). I don't believe it was my control surafce, not a chance that is was.

I'd rather run HS65HBs anyways, I can get them for 23 a piece

Also, gotta tape a nickel or something on the opposite wingtip at the lipo. Noticed that when inverted it couples to that side, and only that side- no flex in the elevator either.
