Hey guys I just purchased a 40" Extra and was wondering what the best glue to use to assemble and fix would be? Should I just use tape for hinging or is there some great hinge I should also be using? I also like Deans plugs but they seem a little bulky for the 3s 1200mah batteries I will be using. What is the preferable plug mini deans, jst, regular size deans, bullets etc... Thanks for your help this is my first plane getting a little burnt out on the racing scene!

For glue, I use BSI Foam Safe CA (WITH ACCELERATOR!), and DW PVA. THe Foam Safe CA is good for glueing the wings on, glueing in the firewall. You can also use it to tack in the fuse, then finish glueing the fuse with PVA. Also, this is on a side note but you would be best taping on the carbon spar on the wing. Don't try to glue it, just use 1" blenderm.

On the topic of the battery connector, you would be best off using Deans Ultra plugs. That's what I use, and it's what at least 95% of other people use. Deans have proved themselves as top-of-the-line connectors, and in my opinion are much better than JST or other connector types.

I like to use BSI CA for most of the build, with white gorilla glue on key spots like the motor mount area, the fuse at the end of the tail, the fuse under the wing, also where the top and bottom fuse join, and for the carbon reinforcements. Basically anywhere you need gap filling or flex use the gorilla glue.

I barely glue the spar on the wing at first, I like to wait until the end of the build to really lock down the spar to the wing as it might crack while you are building. I don't like blenderm on the spar because the wing can flop around.

And Anderson power poles work very well and are light and can be connected and disconnected with one hand.

Use Deans Ultra for anything 10 amps and over. JST and mini Deans are okay for the small stuff, under 10 amps

I was just down in my basement putting a fuse together for a 48" 330, and I realized how well the parts fit together on their own! Nice and tight too

This is just a testament to how well designed these kits are! No CA has been used yet.

Little bump..

Finally finished my Yak 55M (for the most part) and it came out to a whopping 15.4oz!

I also played with my linkages a bit, tried something I've never tried before.

Still have to finish painting it, and apply the vinyls. Oh yeah, and fly it

The usual. Himax HC2812-1080 outrunner, APC 10x4.7SF prop, Castle Creations Thunderbird 18 ESC, and an assortment of lipos, nothing bigger than 3s 1330.

Servos are all Corona DS939MG digitals, and one Hitec HS65HB on the elevator. With the control rods mounted in the farthest hole out on everything (except HS65HB- 1 hole in on the long arm), everything I had to turn the rates DOWN instead of up like I usually do
