I have a 40" Juka with the Dynamo motor that DW sells. I was wondering if anyone was having a problem with that motor being excessively loud, I don't mean vibration loud, its a very high pitched loud especially on start up, with no start up problems or shuddering, It does have excessive power and I have tried it one 3 different ESCs and its currently on a Phoenix 25. Just wondering if anyone had a solution.

I have been using zip-ties(big ones like the ones that come with the dw kits to glue on the under side of the fuse)and just screw them on that way I can drill a hole were I need it to get the amount of throw I want.

my 40 juka with the dynamo has the same high pitched squeal as well. I think that's just how it is. It's definitely not lacking power, even here at 5300ft

My new DW 40" Yak 54

Here is my new DW - The new 40" Yak54 - depending on the CG position, it turns from a great tracking precision aerobatic airplane to a 3D Monster - Absolutely stunning! Night Photos will follow soon.
Blue Skies!

It's your bearings. Try pulling the clip, removing the bell and getting some lube in there. The front bearing is actually two bearings stacked up so you need to pull at least the front one to get them all lubed. Scorpion sells a special bearing lube kit and here is the page which includes instructions.

http://www.innov8tivedesigns.com/pro...84234ec268fc1e

If you don't want to buy this you can try good quality motor oil (Synthetic is best). Do not use WD 40 as this is a cutting oil and 3 in 1 is not much better.

If lubing them doesn't work, you can get new bearings from Rc Bearings:

http://www.rcbearings.com/categories/Bearings/Metric/

You'll have to measure them. These guys are great and have great service.

Or, just leave it noisy

Thanks Eran!
Thanks Denver! - Yes - but I "borrowed" it from my 50cc AeroWorks Extra 300 I just like it too much - I created the artwork in Illustrator and had it cut out of oracal high performance vinyl - works great.

Here are some night shots with the new DW light stripes - Thanks a lot Mike!!

Mike is going to add those to his inventory - they are powered by the receiver battery - connected with a simple inline Dean connector (no electronics). This connector has 6 outlets for the LED strips and it is for 12 Volt (3S Lipo)

Those long exposure shots are absolutely stunning!
------
I will soon be the proud owner of the DW Foamies 38" Yak 54. I ordered it and matching components this afternoon. How long do these usually take to build? A couple evenings?

Thanks a lot! - I was amazed as well how they turned out - those light strips are powerful!

The build is very easy and straight forward - it comes with a very detailed manual - just make sure you use pva (canopy glue /elmer glue) on the fuselage so it stays somewhat flexible - CA would break to easy on those stress points.
The rest of the airplane could be done with foam safe CA - usually it takes an evening or two to finish it. Perhaps a little longer for your first one - but soon you'll be a pro and finish those DW's up in no time at all
Let me know if you have any questions.
Enjoy your Foamie! - you're going to love it!
