I'm on my 3rd DW Foamie and did the beveling my self thistime. No big deal. Save the money and buy another battery or two.

My 1st big-un was the 48 Juka w/ Dynamo power. Awesome. For contrast I just got the 40 Juka (also Dynamo) but she's still in the box.

I'll be real interested to see which model, over time, I like better. I suspect that the power-to-weight in the 40 is a bit better than in the 48- but maybe not (lotsa variables).

When you get the 48 (Juka? that's what Mike recommended to me for max 3D) it'll be interesting to see how you compare the two.

Imo, if it's your 1st DW, yes. Looks a helluva lot neater & cleaner when done by Mike's cnc machine.

However...once you're done it with an xacto knife on a few pcs of depron, it ain't bad. I do my own now.

1st DW, you'll think it's worth it.



Edit: btw...great choice on the 48 Juka. You've not said what your skilz are or what you're trying to do, but the 48 Juka is just an all-out 3D monster. That thing will huck like gangbusters.

now that i know how to bevel, it's very easy. I do it backwards though and place the straight edge flush with the depron on the top side and bevel downwards. I find i get a cleaner bevel that way. And always use a fresh blade

I've ordered both ways and $15 is a tad steep; on the other hand, it's absolutely perfect and looks great.

I'd suggest 1st-timers get Mike's bevel, then bevel a couple of spare pcs of depron, then do their own on subsequent orders

My 40" Extra 300L has shipped. What do you guys think about SkyLipo 1300 mah 3S 30C, or their 40C batteries? The prices are really good. Is 40C over kill? I'll be using the DW power package.

Im using 1350 mah 35C batteries and they stay cold. Could probably get away with less C.

I have 19...count 'em...19, Sky lipo's from Hobbypartz. Totally pleased.

One question: you getting landing gear?

Reason I ask: the landing gear both adds weight and moves the cg forward (NOT what you want for 3D).

So on my 40" Juka (w/ landing gear), I opted for 3S/1000mah/40C...to 1) save weight where I could 2) keep the cg as aft as possible.

The batts are so darn cheap that I just got 3. I may lose a tad of flt time dropping from 1300mah to 1000mah, but hope I more than make up for it in performance.

Fly, land, add new batt, charge other one.

Lather/ rinse/ repeat

Do you use the 4mm banana connectors they sell those with?

Hey Guys, heres a pic of the new paint job i'm doing on a 40" yak 55M that i'm building and painting for a friend. i was inspired by the new MEL that Mark flew at the TAS but i added a bit of spice to it with the frot looking like the scheme was being tore away and had flames under!! looks cool. i got the wing half way painted and the horizontal fuse piece left to do.

Hey Bluhammer, great to hear you got you an airbrush. they are alot of fun to work with cause you can do so much more than you can with spray cans. biggest thing i taking some scrap foam and playing around. thats the way i've learned how to do some of things i can do, and playing with air pressures!!
it may sound weird but shows on tv like american chopper have helped alot cause they show alot of the painting of their bikes and sometimes the guy Nub tells how he does things
