Here's a pic from a stock build.

Which is in this thread http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...ng+gear&page=4

As for performance your adding some weight which will have some small effect on the wing loading. If you need the gear, don;t worry about the performance hit. It's minor.

Depends on the glue used, but in essence...NO

If you have to I'd try cutting it so the reglue is easier to do.

Sodbusted, you will definantly notice the gear and personally, I am not a fan of them. You will have a bit more coupling in KE and it won't roll quite as axle. Some guys like them, but the answer is yes, they will affect it.

As for the mounting, the plastic piece should be sort of a triangle shape. The wide end should go twords the wing. Make sure that both the plates, (on the right, and left of the foam) and aligned correctly and then punch a hole for the zip ties. You will glue the plastic pieces to the foam and then put the landing gear legsbetween the line of holes for the zip ties. Now you can put the zip ties through the first hole and out the other side, over the gear leg, and in and out the other side and then close the zip tie over the other leg. I no longer have the plane I put them on so I cannot tell you exactly, but this is what I remmember. I hope it helps.

I love building these DW kits

Working on the GenX Horizonatal stab is done, hinging is done and taping is done, all amongist almost 3 inches of rain in 4 hours. Had to stop and setup a bilge pump for the garage

got most of the taping done, about ready for final airframe assembly now

When I put together my Yak Fusion, I accidentally used the larger carbon rods for the supports, and the smaller ones as push rods. It was only after I finished that I realized it should have been the other way around. Well because of that I think my rudder and elevator rods are flexing a bit too much so I wanted to replace them. I don't have the manual on me currently, can someone tell me the size of the larger carbon rod used in the Yak Fusion kit?

IDK exactly what he uses on that kit, but probably 1/1.5 mm for the bracing and 2mm for pushrods. As long as 2mm will fit into your easy connector, I'd go with that.

I just started a 28" Juka as well as a dEEPron fusion su-29 and regular 40" yak 55. The two 40"ers I will be taking to SEFF. The hardest thing for me, is to decide what to paint them. Any idea's for the Juka? I would like it to be light wieght and a bright coler that reflects light well, being that it will be a night flyer.

Grab a couple of small zip ties and wrap them around the carbon pushrods about halfway inbetween, then push the long section of zip tie through the foam to act as a pushrod keeper. Drop a small bit of CA over it to keep it in the foam, then snip off the excess on the other side.

Actually I received a PM from Mike himself saying to email him for a couple of push rods that he actually already sent out to me! I've heard great stories of him and his company, but this is just excellent! Way to go DWFoamie!

Hi Sodbuster,
I used Dubro Micro L/G on my 48" Juka.
http://shop.dubro.com/products/produ...2.0.0.0?pp=12&
It worked well, however I added a rubber band to stop the legs 'splaying' apart and allowing the prop to mow the grass!
These are the only pics I could find of it.

Cheers

Mick

That gear looks nice on the 48". Michael, after experimenting with paint jobs I like red on top and blue stripes on bottom, I can see the model very well like that.

I think it helps to have some solid colors in some pattern on both top and bottom. If the color is too light (say yellow), the sun can shine through and you will see bottom and who knows what happens next lol. The same could be said for those bright lights you use.

I use water-thinned acrylics with a foam brush, usually two coats. It's easy and adds very little weight.
