OTTAWA RIDEAU ELECTRIC JET RALLY 29 May 2010

Hi Guys and Gals!

Jean Claude (JC) Terrettaz of the Rideau Flyers Club of Ottawa, Ontario Canada will be the event director for the First MAAC sanctioned EDF only Jet Rally event to be held in Canada. The city of Ottawa is also the capital of Canada and this makes its a fantastic location for great stuff to see and do! So PLEASE puts us on your calendars and make this event part of a vacation you won't soon forget.

May is not far away and JC and I would love to hear from ya on hear about this event

I definitively was inspired by the Excellent Ohio international E-Jet event. This one is much more low key. Our club mate and friend Bill Nickel will cook pancake for breakfast + steak sandwich for lunch. Our club is located in a gorgeous site in the country with a nice paved runway...Now we have to wait until the snow melt and I hope "dame nature sera clémente"

How long of a drive from your field to mine

how long is the runway?

Hello Kevin and Chris,
~ 620 miles It's almost only Highway very easy drive.
For travelers we are planning to be able to fly Saturday and Sunday.
It's not a very long runway, good for my Electra, short for the Mirage and 1/8 F16 . The grass is short and good for landing (when not wet!) or take off.
In May the corn is not a problem
We will have some Jets donate by Model by John....
I'm planning around 25+ pilots from our club and from Quebec and Toronto should be lot of fun!

I am hoping to attend with my 9th scale Jaguar.............assuming I complete the build by May (fingers crossed). I have also been following the thread on RCCanada. hope to see you all there.

For those not from around the Rideau RC Flyers site you can find a Howard Johnson Hotel in the village of Kemptville about a 10 min drive from the field.

From Kemptville you get on the 416 going towards Ottawa and get off on the Rogers Stevens Dr exit.

The flying field has room for overnight Campers - Note the field has no running water or electricity.

We have also a charging station for 4-5 DC outlet + 110 v AC .
+ a big fridge full of good Canadian green bottle if Tam decide to travel North

Yes thats a modern way-cool environment friendly solar powered DC charging station with room for 4 outlets.

Recently this fall we also took out the front cedar hedge for new pilot stations using a clear plexy-glass fence - "great for viewing the runway from the Chateau's porch.

Travel to Canada and mexico

I belive as of june 2009 all states in the united states Isuue
a special drivers lic. with travel privliges to Canada and
mexico. I had mine upgraded and traveled to canada with
no problem's its also good for travel on Cruise Ships.
and it was easy.
