Hello,
I'm just starting to get into electric foam planes, after seeing a few at an indoor event. I've been flying nitro for many years on and off, and wanted to try electric. I downloaded the plans for Foamyfactory's mini 3DX and have the plane almost ready, what a difference in working with foam as opposed to balsa (much faster and cleaner ).
I'm not sure which motor would be best. I'd like to be able to fly it outdoors and indoors. Can you please suggest a motor/esc/2 or 3 cell lipo.
I'm looking at one of the Rimfire line, 300, 370 or 400.

Firstly, we have no idea what the plane even is. Secondly, you didn't supply an AUW. We're just shooting in the dark here.

^yes we do he said it was a Foamyfactory mini 3DX. AUW would help though

Wow, thanks Michael, this motor seems excellent for the price especially.
My worry is delivery time for Hobbycity I guess. If it's shipped from Hong Kong, it might take a while. Recently I ordered a part for my phone, and due to postal problems, it took over 3 weeks! I can't wait that long to see it airborne

Is it sold in the U.S., even if not as cheap?

I have the Motrolfly 2205-1350 (28g) on my EPP Yak 55 (7oz) from www.subsonicplanes.com and it's great power/weight. Also, looks like they have a 2203-1350 (17.5g) that is new and works well for 4-10oz models.

Well, I'm waiting for the motor and the electronics to arrive. Here's how far I got with the plane. When I started, I didn't want to go into too much detail, not knowing how things will turn out for the first time, but I got carried away, and here's what I have so far.

You're right Michael, I used the large permanent Sharpies. I didn't want to get into painting or airbrushing. The pens seemed to work good, except the navy blue, gave me little problems, for some reason it's not as smooth as the others. The red is the best, goes on nicely, and covers pretty good.

I'll let you know on the motor, once I maiden it

The mini3DX is all done now. My very first foamy and electric plane that I've built or even fly. Will have to maiden it tomorrow, hopefully it'll go well. I have the CG a bit forward to start, will adjust it later. Final AUW is exactly 6oz.

I don't even look at the recommended CG. I always set it myself. Depending on your flying style the CG that is good for you varies. I always have mine a little forward do to the fact that I like to mix precision in with my flying
