Schrott: Thank you.
Yes to remind me when I forget where I am and what I am doing, I'm just glad she lets me play with my boats.

Roger,

She's looking really good. After I got the fiberglassing done, the Thayer was tested for seaworthiness at the testing facilities (the swimming pool). It's amazing how high she sits in the water with minimal balasting to prevent capsizing. It only goes to show that these vessels were desinged to carry a very large load while remaining stable. I thought you might be interested in following this build on another site; http://modelshipworld.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12117. Clare, the one who started the post, will be building the Thayer soon. The lucky stiff works as a volunteer at the San Francisco Maritime Museum and has access to a lot of records.

Up date, Got the inside epoxiedgot the rudder mounted, the rudder looks good for scale but I don't think it will control the boat very well, I'll need to make a larger one for sailing, I don't see how that small rudder worked well on the real boat.

Float test

I took the Wawona out for a float test today, with as much weight I had in her, and with the weight setting at deck level, she was very stable, I laied her over as if being slamed by the wind and she rolled back as if I had all the wieght placed on her keel, I was quite pleased with the results of the test.

P.S. NO LEAKS

Looks like she can carry a big load!

Did you decide to paint or leave the finish clear?
