Repair, Repair, Repair

I know this is mainly for electric power but I have a general question on rc planes.

I have a Thunder Tiger 40 trainer. The ribs on the wing and fuse are covered with a thin plastic like wrap.

I had a crash today and punctured a hole in the top of the wing, how do I go about repairing this?

Thanks for all your help in advance.

Just get some covering material and iron it on over the hole or if the damage isn't too big put some tape over it.

Use clear package tape or scotch tape.

Covering

Tape will fix minor holes, but if you tear a wing panel you will need to simply replace it with the appropriate covering. Your 40-size plane is probably covered in something like Monokote, so go down to your LHS and get a roll of the same stuff in the correct color. Then you can remove the damaged material between the ribs and iron on a new panel to fit (allowing 1/4" or so overlap for sealing). You'll hardly notice the seams!

Cheers, Phil
