Dle 20

Yes, I know that this is ezone but I, too, have thought of putting my DLE 20 in a Revolver. Now that I see that it has been done, I think that the Revolver will be my Christmas gift to myself.Sweet!

For anyone planning on going with a 4 Stroke...I used the Magnum 91 and placed the batter over the wing tube. Perfect balance with no weights required and it flys VERY well. Almost 1 to 1 thrust and the speed is good using a 14x6 APC prop.

I am setting my 70" Revolver to use spoilerrons. Has anyone set their plane up using spoilerons? If so how much throw did you do on the ailerons and elevator for the spoilerons? The way I have the flap switch set up I can do either spoilerons or flaperons by simply flipping the flap switch up instead of down(spoilerons). Wondering which will work best....spoilerons of flaperons?

Here is what I have been told, use the spoilerons on this plane, evidently the use of flaperons will help induce tip stalling when you do slow down, not a good thing.
I have used my spoilerons but notice little if any help slowing down, It was only my first try and I dont have a lot of throw dialed in and was working my way up to see how far it would go before before I started to notice any handling issues.

Hoping to fly tomorrow or Friday. These Revolvers are so slick they land very fast(least my 59" Revolver does)and I hate it when I run out of runway. I will try the plane on a large runway first using the spoilerons and if they work I won't worry on our newer but smaller runway.

I ended up installing alumimum landing gear as well as re-inforcing the landing gear attachment area.......I don't expect any problems with the landing gear.

I can't figure why Greatplanes didn't stay with the paint design they have on the 59" plane. They could have used the blue on the 70" but the same design as is on the 59" Revolvers ......the 70" paint design is flat......an afterthought. I will be doing the plane up in a "Red Bull" decal look.....that will help.

I really dont recall but I do plan to fly it some tomorrow. I'll be sure to see where the throws are and how much effect they actually have. Your idea to gain altidude is a wise way to see how the plane reacts, I would definately expect some pitching and its far better to find out when high vs on approach to land.

Madmax,
I managed only a few flights today and I did pay notice to my settings, roughly 1/2" of spoilerons and it really had little effect. I tried them in flight at altitude and noticed nothing abnormal when switching back and forth. Winds started to pick up and I'm still pretty green around the gills so I didnt try any settings greater than what I already had. Maybe next time I'll get a little better feel with more throw programmed in.

From what I have read you will need to really crank the throw into the spoilerons...at least 45Drg. I am going flying tomorrow if the wind lets down.

Man, I was no where near 45 deg, no wonder why it didnt have much effect.
Conditions were excellent this morning till about 11:00 here. Once it started to blow it pretty much ruined it for me. I havent been flying that long, I do well for my experience but I chicken out pretty quick when it gets windy.

The backing plate spun true so I only had work on the spinner itself. In my case I got lucky and the heavy side was directly in line with the cut out for the prop, I simply used a small file and removed more material from the prop cut out until it balanced. Not sure if this is the correct way but its how I did it.
