Just want to drop a note that HobbyKing has released a new version of the SkyFun.

Hi, I just maidened my Skyfun with a basic setup consisting of:
2836/2400kv motor (custom made from RCtimer.com)
Hobbyking Blueseries 40a esc
TGS 5x5 prop
Turnigy 2200mah 3s 40c battery
and an Orange 3-axis fight stabilizer.

Will later try with a 6x4 and 50a esc. At the current setup I am getting around 80mph on passes. Here's the video of the maiden.

Been considering this funfly which seems like a great little pusher jet or another radjet since mine is a bit bowed from a few crashes when i was learning...anyone have both and have a favorite??thx

I don't have both, but the Skyfun is by far my favourite plane. It's so easy to fly, so floaty, huge internal area for modifications, it's crashed so many times and still flies perfect.

So is the foam pretty decent?...I normally prefer epo,but good eps keeps its shape best even if it breaks badly which is a positive...my radjet still flys great but bottom is no longer flat due to 3-4 hard crashes and repairs...Thx for your help in deciding

Most oblique force breaks are clean, where as if you have nose-ins, direct force on on the foam crushes the EPS, and where the outer parts of the foam (ie, broken edges) can be brought back to shape with hot water, the compressed foam in the thicker areas cannot be brought back to shape.

Thus, the nose on my skyfun is about 50-75mm shorter than it originally was. (lots of nose-ins)

still flies though.

I've had 2 SkyFuns but Much prefer building a Stryker C from parts.
Can't beat that foam and flies like a dream fast or slow.

Whats stryker C? i watched a couple of videos on the new stryker Q and it flew amazing...Where do you buy these parts?

This foam sounds more like dense epo rather then eps...My radjet foam which is epo behaves just like you say the skyfun does...thx

Hey iflyrcs, i realize stryker c is fist version and found some parts...I already have many motors and esc's available... I went to this site http://www.redrockethobbies.com/Park...-p/pkz1267.htm and found main fuse and tail fins....what other parts will i need to complete this styker c...I will need motor mount and canopy but not sure what else since i never owned a styker...PS all i can fid on this site is a canopy for the new Q version...will it fit stryker C??Bye the way awesome idea to build from parts...any help is appreciated...thx

Are all those plastic parts just glued on and all i will need is hardware for mounting motor? Also any motor suggestions? I buy my motors at hobbyking...I want a more powerful then stock motor and will be running 3 and maybe 4s using 2200 mah packs thax again for the links and help.. PS is this foam much better then the skyfun foam? UPDATE! i ordered airframe and this motor http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...arehouse_.html which should get me around 100mph give or take on a good 3s pack...thax again

You didn't order the motor you mentioned in the speed thread?
Did you order a prop adapter?

You should be fine running an APC 6 x 4 Speed prop (not E).

The canopy parts use long plastic push pins. CA those in.
For ease of use, i just put a strip of duct tape across the battery bay and leave the plastic cover off. The batt fits in pretty snug. You'll see once you get it in hand.

The motor mount comes with screws for the fuse. Hopefully your motor comes with mounting screws. If your motor comes with an X mount, you may want to use it for mounting strength on the nylon mount. Your choice on that.

The foam is excellent. You'll be impressed with it.

Thax i fly, I am over on the stryker thread with all my other questions and i appreciate all your help...i ordered all the parts and that motor with the accessary pack so i should be good to go...i'm hoping for excess of 100mph using 2200-3s high c packs with 60 amp turnigy plush esc...Not sure what hobbytrains charges for normal shipping or how fast they send out plane parts,but total was only $40 which is a lot of plane for the money..i may have to find an instruction manual online...If you want you can help me out in the fast stryker thread you told me about...As i don't like posting off topic either out of respect for skyfun owners thax again
