Hi Nico, thanks for the posts and videos (and replying to video comments). I love this plane so far as a cheap foamy. I ordered two because I knew I would destroy one of them in some unfortunate overpowering incident.

The launcher is a great tip and modified concept. I've seen rail launchers for high speed turbines, but obviously such an expensive setup isn't required for these

Received my skyfun on the weekend (gottta love EMS, they deliver on sundays!) and tore out all the stock electrics.... put in HXT900's, turnigy plush 40A esc, turnigy 2826-2350 (2800kv) motor and turnigy 4s 1800mah 40c lipos.

Started out with a 4.75x4.25E apc prop, and once I got the CoG right she flew very nicely. Controls were way too sensitive, giving it full elevator would stall it straight to the ground in a flat spin.... actually have to point the nose down to save it! The control surfaces are on minimum throw and I've had to set the end points to 75% and 50% expo and its a lot better.... still gotta be careful not to stall it though!

Now I've got a 5.5x4.5E apc prop on, drawing 52A/790W... Very fast! Can't believe how well she glides either, better than my AXN floaterjet... and its a glider!

AUW is 750g/26.5oz

How is this for freaky.... took the skyfun out today with my HowFast air speed meter taped on, 5mph wind....

with a fresh battery she did 107mph!

Tried a few props out - all with a fresh lipo. results are:
  • 5.5x4.5E APC - 107mph
  • 5.25x4.75E APC - 103mph
  • 5x5E APC - 97mph
  • 5x5E TGS - 100mph

All props drew nearly the same current, the 5.5x4.5 drawing slightly more though. The 5.5x4.5 certainly is the pick of the lot, fastest, quietest and best vertical.... very surprised by the TGS 5x5E though, as noisy as it is... Did not expect the APC 5x5E to work very well, but worth a shot.

Only the batteries were slightly warm after a hard flight.

Thanks, I'll go with both the 6x4 and the 5x5, they cost 1.5$ each

I said APC sport 6x4, not TGS cost a few bucks more (and not from HK) but you will have much better results, especially when you're talking about 800w+

These guys ship worldwide.

I wouldn't bother with the 5x5e, very inefficient and hard to launch due to the lower static thrust

Im sure if you destroyed the plane you would find a lipo with a piece of foam still velcroed to it

What would be a nice fast 3s setup for this plane? I know that I could get a 2826-2350 and run it on 4s like some others have, but all my battery chargers only go up to 3s and I'm too cheap to buy a new one!

In the tech note : They are "tractor" (not "pusher") props.

Isn't more efficient to use a pusher prop ?

Do you know where I can buy a 6X4 pusher prop like the original one. I only have around 200W power
