The Spectra Module also requires updating.
. Peel off data port sticker on back of module.
. When running HPP-22 program, refer to the box "etc"
Hitec HPP-22 2.4GHz Programmer - Manual, FAQ - How to install & Use Instructions (with screenshots).

Hi,

I would appreciate an option the have one switch depends on another switch.

For exp.

In DLG glider i wish i could use the momentary switch as a sign for me to know that i am in the right Launch mod, that means i will hear the flaps movement when pushing the momentary switch only when the Launch Preset switch is on

Launch switch - the momentary switch that makes 1-2 mm elevator up and 1 mm flaps camber

Launch Preset switch - flaps in 1 mm Reflex and elevator a bit Down ( this mod is for the glider to go up straight until i turned this mod off.)

You can do it by setting the switches up in conditions that are dependent upon the "master" switch.

Id like to see throttle stick position to be able to used to trigger mixes & D/R's etc (even being able to trigger flight conditions)

Would be very handy for landing gliders with full house wings, as well as setting different trims (and reflex etc) at varying throttle postions.

It'd be pretty slick and would cut down on the number of switches to flick.

There is probably nothing new but here goes anyway.

1. Better start up warnings
2. Throttle as a switch
3. Trim function available on programmable mixes
4. Simple throttle exponential

Som explanation of the above.

1. The Futaba FF8 I have just replaced had more comprehensive flight conditions warnings when turning the radio on such as throttle cut or airbrake being active. The Aurora 9 is much much better and preflight checks should reveal all of these.

2. Been listed many times by others. In some circumstances, like switching a glow driver in and out a 7 point programable mix can be set up to do the same, but choosing the throttle as a switch with a defined on/off point would be better / simpler.

3. For example, the rudder to aileron mix which is a preset mix for knife edge allows you to fine trim the mix ratio using one of the small trim buttons. It would be good to extend this to any of the programmable mixes. May need to be only the simple programmable mixes, but setting up say a throttle to elevator mix may need to have it trimmed on the fly the first time it is applied.

4. Been listed many times by others. This can be achieved by prework on the throttle curve and leaving only the 0%, 50% and 100% points with expo enabled and then just move the 50% point. Again a simple single expo setting (it was on the FF8) would make things easier. Of course you can only enable one of simple expo or throttle curve.

A hardware irritation is the need to unscrew the 2.4GHz aerial with the module hanging by the wire, why not a clip on/off aerial and then unscrew the plastic insert.

it would be nice to have a range menu that shows bars when you range check it or just have signal bar on the main screen would be nice

I think there is more room to be made in improving the radio to computer interface software , for making adjustments. but I'm happy with what I got

Show 0V in telemetry voltage when receiver is disconnected or looses power inflight. Showing the last sensed voltage even though the receiver is not getting power is clearly not right. It is never too late to correct this aberrant behavior.

The trouble with showing Zero volts like that is twofold. For those who have the voltage alarm threshold set..... If the voltage reading went to zero the radio alarm would go off when you turn the plane off. The alarm would then sound until the radio was turned off. The second reason is for trouble shooting after a crash. If the plane goes down you can look at your screen and see the last voltage transmitted, it gives you a clue to use to determine the cause of the crash.

BUT....That does bring me to something that I would like to see added. How about a silence feature for the alarm? Something simple I don't have to look down to do. Perhaps when the voltage alarm sounds the touch screen becomes one giant button.....touch anywhere to silence the alarm for say 30 seconds or a minute.

I love the low voltage alarm feature, but as a sailplane pilot I set the cut-off rather conservatively so I have a reserve for finishing a flight task. Having to listen to it scream at me while I fly is really annoying....sometimes as long as a minute or more.

A timer based interrupt showing a lack of signal/connectivity could be made to show zero volts on the display while not triggering the alarm/beeping. It's a basic enough task for any programmer.

As I have stated previously, Hitec could do lots to further improve this radio and its PC software. It's only a question of having capable enough programmers. I don't see any reason to NOT improve this radio further and making it the best in its class except if Hitec is working on another flagship radio and wants to deliberately keep some features out of the Aurora 9.

This one is a definite 'must' for the next firmware. A9 users have been demanding this feature for quite some time now.

I find it very unlikely that Hitec are doing this. Their other transmitters the optic and eclipse are long over due for a refresh - especially the optic. Considering the optic 6 has been out of what must be a good 10 years, I don't think the aurora is going to be replaced anytime soon.

More what I think the problem is that Hitec r&d team is probably small with far too many projects on - a lot like many r&d departments. Just look at the delays the minima receiver had and the blue sensor station is still not yet released!

Adding new features to the aurora firmware is just not the highest priority to Hitec. The only time it would be, is when a fault is discovered that could affect sales - such as the optical kill switch problem.

^ That might very well be the case but if so, I would (as a customer) much rather that Hitec have an R&D team in the US too which could perhaps focus on firmware development/improvement for existing products while the team in Korea designs new products and makes them available on time.

As it stands, there are lots of suggestions and improvements in numerous threads but no ETA nor any definitive time of their inclusion/addition to the existing feature set. e.g. swash ring, selectable trainer passthrough channels, RSSI, improvements in PC end software and model data/programming consistency across firmware updates, etc.

Once there are more teams focusing on specific areas of development, we will (hopefully) get new/improved features rather than bugfixes in transmitter firmware updates and the ETA for already announced products can be met rather than them being late by over an year.

I hope these suggestions and discussions are taken in positive constructive light, as they are truly intended to be.

THAT'S EASY.....open up the radio and snip a wire to the beeper!!!

I suppose if you think you might want the beep back sometime, you could add a switch on the back of the case to turn it on-off with
