What prop are you running with this motor? What kind of speed are you getting with your set up (approximately)?

towerpro 7x6 (which is hard to find now, but I think its an apc clone, will know when i get my apc 7x6 to compare). 12-15amps WOT, it changes for some reason... highest doppler was 85mph. I can fly it like 4-6mph in the evening with 0 wind... Simply the best prop to use...

Just got a bare stryker airframe to rig up for my Son. Right now I have an EMAX CF2822 that I want to try, not the lightest thing out there, but we'll see how it goes.

I have a Grayson Microjet V3 to try out after he gets a few successfull flights in.

Where's the CG supposed to be located? is is supposed to be at the little divots inside the finger grip areas?

Ten years in, and I finally hit 600 posts! LOL better hurry up!

Thanks for the info- I have been flying the BW1700 with 7x6 APC you decribed on my F22 profile (the one in my avatar) for a couple years. It's a great combo- I never imagined it would push the comparitivley large Stryker so well. Maybe it deserves a try.

I put some lights on my latest light stryker to go night flying with my brother at the beach. Here are a couple of sky painting that were made while we were there. My plane is blue on bottom and green and red on the top. My brothers was green on the bottom and red on the top.
Great FUN!!!

Had my son cut out the elevons last night, will try to hinge them tonight. What kind of throw, on high/low rates? How much differential are you running?

Thanks for the help,

DG

I have a total of 1 3/4" of total up/down movement at the TE of my 2" elevons.

I pulled one of the leads off one of my batteries today (I use 2 3s 850mah batteries, I charge one and fly the other, non stop), so I decided to try a 2200mah 3s. It flew for 19minutes. I almost had full vertical at WOT, but it was fun because the plane was crazy stable with the extra weight, everything came down cool/warm. Hehe, 7x6 prop is king, but I think the gws 7x6 was better, I'll try again when i get replacements...

I've been running about 30 degrees up and down, using a 24g outrunner on a 3 cell.
The last couple builds were under 9ozs, so I cut 2" wide elevons to get better slow speed response.
It doesn't seem to need any elevon differential or reflex.
I always use standard rates to help keep my skills honed!

We maidened the Stryker tonight, I was pretty nervous- my 15 year old son had not flown anything for almost two years.
I threw it and he coaxed it up into some nice smooth circuits of the soccer field keeping it close and slow at about 1/3 throttle. He offered to let me fly, and brought it right by us and greased it in about 40 feet away. Great plane, really smooth flyer. we were grounded by. A bad connection on the speed controller- we'll try again tomorrow. Thanks for the help and advice...

Very nice. My girlfriend always rolls her eyes when I talk about RC. I sent her a link to this page while we were talking on the phone. She started reading out loud about elevon movement with a fake tone of interest in her voice to poke fun at me, but then she scrolled down to your photos. After a very brief silence she just said "wow, that's beautiful." Nicely done!
