mclarkson, do you have any problems with dirt / debris getting in the motor during landing? It looks like the motor might make contact first in a flared landing.

On one of my Stryker-Lites, I simply made a small dorsel fin for under the motor. That way it kelps stuff hitting the motor and it also helps by raising the back end during landings so the prop doesn't break so easily. Butch

I'd love to hear your experiences. Tried to PM you, but your PMs are disabled.

And now, back to the Strykers...

Maidened Light Stryker last friday, Weighs in at 13.75 oz. Stock fuselage with CF left-in, HK bluewonder, 10amp ESC, 9grm metal gear servo's, 850mah nano-tech battery. Depron ailerons, verticalls, and canopy.3 flights. It is so easy to launch and has super great flight characteristics. Will be flying this one alot. Thanks to everyone who contributes to this thread!

I owe some details and pics to you guys as I built and maidened mine at E-Fest last weekend.
Still not sure of best questions to ask. Here goes:
1700kv BluWonder. 10a ESC. I have 2S and 3S 500mAh batteries.
So far, playing around, on 3S a 7x3.5 seems ok. On 2S, not sure best. Tried 8x4.3 and its ok but something is missing.
On same motor on my 3DEPP bird, I use 9x47 on 2S and 8x43 on 3S and its SWEET! My thoughts of using same props (since same motor) on my new LS are not right.

Also...if I balance on the dots, it flies around with significantly-visible up-trim on the elevator.

Any thoughts? Stock fuse, Depron elevons and fins. Tape hinges. 9 gram servos.

Thanks!

AeroRecon,
I'm running the 1700 24g motor on a 3 cell with a 7x6.
I use a 2" wide elevon, so that moves the C/G back just a bit.
Maybe one degree or two max up on the elevons, so maybe your nose heavy.

I figure nose heavy also but it flies lousy when I move the 3s back.
Mine are probably an inch and a half wide.
I will try the 7x6. I have an 8x6 I can cut down.
How about 2s prop?

HeadsUp has data on different 2S props. It really looks like the 8043 should work well. If you're looking for more bottom end thrust, you can move up to a 9050 but that'll be pushing your ESC pretty hard. Depending on your motor mounting, you might have trouble getting a 9" on there.

On another note, I just got done ordering all the parts to build a new light Stryker with my son.Gonna use the same basic setup as mine, minus the lights.

I have a total of 1 3/4" of total up/down movement at the TE of my 2" elevons. It flies great, but I've been thinking about moving down a hole on the control horn to up the throws a bit.

Maiden

flew my lws tonight, 3 batteries.

she flies nice. no trouble with the maiden. much more docile than the WidowMaker wing. gentle toss with about 60% power and off she went.

empty weight is about 9.3 oz.

flew 2 - 450mah and 1 - 860mahs.

thinking about building another with leds for night flying.

If you do, turn those strips around and face them down into the foam. It lights up the white foam up really nicely.

If you pull the wing spars out to lighten it, the leftover channels are the perfect size for a strip of LEDs.

have there been any issues breaking wings if the spars are removed?

the channels would be ideal to run the wire
