I was running a Turnigy 2730 1500kV but it died on me in short order. I'm currently running a 2712-12 1300kV 'Blue Wonder'.

They are both great for my 12oz plane. The 1500kV definitely packed more punch - the plane had unlimited vertical - but the 1300kV works just fine for the flying I do which is mostly 1/2 throttle or less and usually at night with the lights lit.

Hi
If replying to me cool about the motors!!! I have the Turnigy 2730 1500 sitting here, unlimited vertical sounds fun.
I was asking about the motor mount though....guess i never ordered one.
Think i remember seeing square carbon mounts, round aluminum tube.
What do you guys feel was the lightest and or best?

Oops. I mis-read your post as which motor was best. I use the stock mounts that come with the motors, screwed to a square of thin plywood.

On the hobbyKing website it says my Turnigy 2730 will pull 12amps with a GWS 8/4. But i only ordered a plush 10amp esc.
Using a 850mah 25-40c nano tech. Should i of ordered 7/3.5 props instead? Maybe get a slightly larger esc?
I would like to get maximum thrust from the motor/battery package.

ooohhhhh....thats right i remember reading this.
is there a math equation that tells you the thrust steven?
how did you come up with 6.8/4 being the best ratio?

FWIW, my 2712 1300kV pulls only 6.6 amps with at 8x4 on a 3S. I never measured my 2730, but I doubt it would be twice that.

Wopa, I've been using Turnigy Plush 10a esc's with 2730-1500's for a couple of years now with 8040 props on 3s. I've never had a problem with any of those setups drawing too many amps.

That's the same combo I'm putting on my light Stryker, but it's still a work in progress. I sanded a 3/8" groove into the foam where the motor mount usually goes, and I'm mounting the motor on a 3/8" balsa stick that I'm gluing into the groove. I plan to cut fins out of 6mm depron and use balsa for ailerons. I'll probably use a 1300 mah 3 cell, so it won't be super light. I just wanted something a bit slower and more quiet for smaller parks. Hopefully the motor will be a good match. The combo is pretty inexpensive.

Definitely a heavier setup that I'm running. It won't be super-light and super-slow, but it oughta fly just fine.

Anyone do a night flyer on 2s?

I have a few 1000mah 2s batteries and a spare fuse sitting around, what motor prop combination works with the 2s and extra weight of the leds?

Personally, I didn't like how bright the LEDs are on a 2S.

I will have to agree with you. They are a little dim at 7.4v. I've got some 3s 360mAh packs that I use just for my LEDs. They are small and don't weigh much either.
I should be starting on my Lite Stryker soon and I'm for sure going to add LEDs to it.

My lights only pull around 0.3 amps, so it doesn't take much battery to run them.
