Discovered today that all does not go as smoothly as one might wish.
With 120 odd grams hanging 300mm off the stern maneuverability is somewhat compromised and the boat does not respond quite as quickly as normal to rudder input....!!

Yeah Mike, this was before the racing started and the control problems with all that weight hanging off the stern were understood.Turning ability was severely effected.Usually there is far less contact. Most occurred because I was trying to,as were others, get right in close. All handled with good humor, and the contact looks much worse on film than it is in reality.
Heres a pic of the MK1 set up.
As you can see the waterline length is somewhat shortened.

Always wanted this much time to play, however the injuries needed (Shoulder reconstruction and lower back realignment) kind of take the gloss off it a bit,I dont like pain much

I thought I would put this link here instead of the "Mast side bend" thread, as this seems to be widely read... and k4s post reminded me where I saw the photos!

http://www.magicksails.com/KiwiSails19a.html has some good photos of prebend in a mast, before and after backstay tensioning. The website also has some tuning tips over several pages, starting here: http://www.magicksails.com/secondpageb.html and click on the tuning link.

http://nzradioyachtingassociation.co.nz/

This is the new site for Radio Yachting NZ,
Results for all regional type comps should be posted within a couple of days of happening.
This site is very new and is in construction,so more content will be added as time goes on.

Personally I had a first day to forget. If it could go wrong,it did!!!!!!!!!!!
Second day was a million percent better, even managed a couple of wins. The most surprised person by the lake was me
Saturday was around mid to just above A rig in the gusts with a few showers of rain in the morning.Sunday, fine and sunny with mid to bottom end A rig.
Sailed all regatta with one fleet of 24.Made for some interesting starts and mark roundings.
Overall a fun event, with more to come.

Well Richard,

You did alot better than I did, my first ranking event if I wasn't getting cleaned up I was hitting the marks, the boat was sailing well, but not quite pointing as high as I like.

Results should be here in the next day or so
http://www.rsawa.asn.au/

or on our club site very shortly
