Hi Roksanti
Thanks for the positive feedback, there are a couple of photo's of the shadows being made lower down in Blog which could give you an idea of boR's form. However, there is no scale but in essence her max draft will approximately 52mm, beam 180mm and transom 110mm. Transom to center of mast 490mm.
Just to be a little bit different I've given her a slight diamond shaped bow and also made an allowance to move the 5 cell 6V battery to three different positions depending on the conditions within the hull. Just infront of the mast for light conditions, alongside the fin box for average and behind the mainsheet post for those windy days. There's a rule about fixing corrector weights but you're free to put the battery in this case 149g (5.25oz) whether you want.
As for a photo of my sketched plans I'll see what I can do. They're a bit scruffy now due to a few amendements, sort of work in progress!

!
Almost - but not quite.

The corrector weights may not be relocated during an event - but could be moved for a different event.

Same for batteries. - once measured and weighed at an event - the batteries must be placed/replaced in the same place.

Here are the relevant parts of the IOM rule.

C.4.3 CORRECTOR WEIGHT(S)
Corrector weight(s) to achieve compliance with C.4.2, if used, shall be fixed in/on the hull and not be altered or moved during an event.

C.5.3 REMOTE CONTROL EQUIPMENT
(d) During an event remote control and related equipment if temporarily removed and or replaced:
(1) shall be refitted in the same position.
(2) shall be replaced by equipment of similar weight.

I see what you're saying John. Just goes to show that I'm just not used to doing events which last longer than a day ;-0

THX for the effort. It is always nice to look at new designs. I sail a Danish design by Søren Andresen, Lærke. (Lark)

Please have a look at the picture from sunday event, a few friends gather last sunday i Oslo to sail and talk about The EC in Croatia. I have Sail # NOR 61. I put her together in 2007.

Measuring Boat performance..?

Ok so you've made a change in something .. perhaps a minor tuning adjustment.. in this case, what was just tweaked/adjusted doesn't matter..

I'm very curious about your answers to this fundamental question:

What are the best ways to actually tell if it's made a positive or negative difference in your IOM's boat speed?

Especially in cases when you're sailing alone or against different types of boats.. and don't have the luxury of other IOM sailors to sail against at that time.. what would you do to actually "measure" it's impact quickly and reasonably accurately?

Just Curious to know if there any simple tips on doing this?
Regards, JimS

Hi Jim,

I can only do this sailing against other IOMs.It takes sailing 20 or more meters on a single tack to see if the boat is faster/slower/ pointing higher/lower. And it will only be a small gain or loss - and it requires that the other boat has not been altered and that sailor is sailing consistently. Just not possible to do against other classes of boat as the gain/loss is usually just a small increment for each adjustment.
