Is Pepe also making the new V8 ? I heard rumors of at least 2 on the water and one of those in the San Fransisco area.

No V-8s in the S.F. Bay area so far. Mr Vickers is rumored to be relocating here. So far I've not seen him.

I understand Ian Vickers is working for Oracle Racing and is/will be living in the SF/Bay Area for a while going forward - we are hoping he turns up for some fleet racing sometime.... If a V8 exists he would have one?

He is in San Fransisco and he has one of the 2 V8s being shipped to him there. Will post later pics or a link to pics of his boat.

Tony you may be right there, it is the same boat that John Taylor won that event at Christmas time with, I love the shape and it is a quick hull, but I almost ordered one of Bill's new Shadow2's that he has designed and is doing well in club racing in the SW

Tony
The Robot yachts website says:-
The accurate hull/deck moulds have been engineered from CNC machined plugs.

As you know from your F3J flying days, a CNC machined plug is not the same as a set of CNC machined moulds.

BritPop Molds

Pretty sure that Brad Gibson has now sailed two Britpops from the Robot Yachts molds. I don't think he would be doing that if the molds were inferior to those of any other builder. And I don't think he has lost an event with those boats. My bet is that all the builders are doing a fine job.

Sept 2011, he missed winning Italian championship in Ravenna by 1 point, they have some good skippers in that neck of the woods

My question was has anyone seen a Britpop from the other builders,it's not an insinuation of one being better or worse i'm shure they all have built many boats before a Britpop but i'm shure lots of us would like to see one out of curiosity. The Dallas blowout is on and have not seen any scores yet but spoke to Tony G last nite and he's leading the march with 7 bullets out of 12 races so far, winds started in No1 suit and ended the day in No3.Think he said Brig North was second and Bob Dunlap 3rd,Mackie 4th. Congrats to Bob Dunlap for the effort he's one hell of a nice guy and started at the bottom of the pack and loves IOM's.

This is from various posts for the Blowout.

John

From the USIOM forum

It appears the Blow Out is living up to it's rep.....

South wind 12- 38 kts......Lintels in B rigs the rest in C's

After 12 races at days end....

Tony Gonsalves Lintel 15 pts.
Brig North Lintel 41
Bob Dulap Lintel 44.1
Al Ross Lintel 49
Craig Mackey Patriot 51
Chris Macaluso 51
Gerry Warren Brower Widget 58
John Castelli 67
Stephen Cohen 68
Dennis Rogers Britpop 72

From Morgan

Update from the blowout, the lintels that stayed in B rigs did so due to lack of C rigs. That said they carried the rigs well.

Competition is fierce, not only does one have to sail error free to stay in the A fleet but you must also get a good start and read all the shifts correctly. The competition is stiff.

From Jess

Sounds like the Blow out this year lives up to its Name.
Herd from one of the guys that said the last of the races saturday were 34+ Knots
with fun waves to ride...

I travelled to my first ever Open Meeting today, got to see Craig's design in the flesh, saw how fast a Shadow could go (Mike ) and generally had a really good day in some great company. Spent most of my time skipping between A & B fleets but the highlight was winning an A fleet race.
