A blast from the past! The Parrot lives flies again
I thought I'd share my weekend distraction
I built this plane from a kit back in 1989-90. It is a Robbe Parrot. I built it for electric power, and back then it was very cutting edge. It started with a Speed 600, then I upgraded to an Astro Flight 05 Cobalt brushed motor. I could get just under 3 minutes of barely flying out of it using a 7 cell Nicad pack
I came across it in the garage this weekend and decided to repower it. I installed a brushless motor I had around, and made a few repairs, and installed a new receiver.
Wow! She flies really nicely, and for 15 plus minutes on a 3S Turnigy 2200 20C Lipo. How times have changed. I think all the new gear I installed cost less than the Nicad I used to fly it with.
Does anyone else remember this plane. I haven't seen another one yet.
Just felt like sharing.
