I fly 900 MHz. I also run at 500mW and have gone over a mile away. 500 mW is plenty. You'll need a HAM radio license to fly this legally.
I like my set up. I got most of the equipment from DPCAV.com. I also fly with a Remzibi OSD (On screen display). Camera: CCD 171 (I'm sure there are better cameras for less money) TX - 900 MHz, 500 MW from DPCAV RX - Standard RX with 8 dbi patch antenna TX antenna: 3 dbi dipole OSD: Remzibi OSD (PM Remzibi or HappyKillmore to obtain one of these) Recorder: Aiptek MPVR (records AND keep screen from going blue when signal is weak) I fly goggles that I bought off of Ebay. I think any goggles are fine to start. You might want better quality later, but on the budget, just get a set of QVGA goggles or buy a portable TV. I've heard that CVS carries a 15" portable Craig TV for $100. -Alex |
