Hmmm I've never had that problem, not sure why that's happening but something must be wrong. I'm using the Eflite retracts on a habu32, het F20, pro design f-18 and pro design f-22 with no problems. I did bust a main on the F-22 after a hard landing but since then they have worked great. Never had one nose gear bend or fail.

Stick with the full flying stabs it flys great with them no problems. If you have the older kit with the bearing boxes you just need to add hysol to the L bend in the stab to reinforce it (mentioned a bunch of times in this thread) if you have the newer version with the brass tubes and axels sliding thru you need to cut out and remove the axel with a thicker axel wire and put in larger brass tubes. The current stock axels flex quite a bit. My F-22 is pretty light but on high speed passes they flex alot. The f-18 will need them upgraded!

Thanks for the reply, the reason it breaks is becos it's not eflite retracts.

anyway, i hv a f20 70mm, prodesign rafale 70mm twin, het f-15 70mm twin and hk f-18 90mm single... can u recommend one set of eflite retracts with structs for it to be transfer from one aircraft to another...for all these aircraft. Just hope to buy one set, as i will be building only one aircraft at the time to fly and subsequently flying another after decommission.

Well I use the 10-15 size for the nose and then make a wire strut out of 1/8 wire that is centered as opposed to offset, this allows me to set up a mechanical gear door. For the mains I use 15-25's with the stock struts, I use styrene tubing to simulate a strut and they end up looking great with no additional weight. Tams struts are real nice but you need to make sure that they will work on the mains with the front to back retract configuration compared to the left to right format. There really isn't any decent struts in this size aircraft other than Tams.

Just wondering, did anyone that cut their exhaust back to get a 50mm opening make new extensions for a more scale look or did you just leave it "bobtail". Wanting to know what they might have made them (exhaust) out of. Have moved mine to the work bench. Have recieved the new canopies from Park Flyer Plastics and have started getting one ready. I'm going to put the 1st one on the frame that came with the plane and I think I'll order the detailed cockpit and put a second canopy on that one. One for display and one for flight. Will post picks of canopy early next week, working this weekend

Put spring air 602s or tams retracts in it and be done with it.

Have one of the new canopies almost ready. Material is much stronger than the stock canopy.

6.75 lbs with spring air retracts, 6S4000's. 7.5 lbs with 7S5000's. Flys great and lands like a parachute. There is video of it somewhere in this thread.

Does anyone have an extra thrust tube for the Prodesign F-18 from a crashed airframe?

I need qty 2 for a scratch build project. I will pay for the shipping and handling.

Matt
