some Sunday fun on the beach

Hi guys,

I got a ton of information from this thread, helping me initially to decide what glider to buy for light lift conditions, and finally to build and dial her in.

This thing is so much fun, I thought I return something to this thread and post a flight video.
So here it goes, my first post on this forum..

Alula @ Copacabana (8 min 27 sec)

The best thing about this plane is the fix/fly ratio, which is second to nothing R/C I have ever build!

I'm willing to trade you flying fields anytime you want to look at the flat fields of Kansas instead of sandy beaches and the ocean.

Nice video, thanks for sharing

thanks for the feedback!

Mark, I was working a couple of years on trading my own flat fields for dunes and surf.. not willing to trade again
But its some space left for you..

This sunday, I found a better site to fly. Its 15 minutes further to drive, but the bigger dunes are more than worth the drive.

I dont want to flood this thread with my videos, so I created a video album, and added today's footage. I cant figure out how embed flash into this post, so here is a plain link:
http://vimeo.com/album/1582908

Today was actually my first day of proper flying - not only throwing and throwing. The longest flight was probably 30 minutes. Not having to concentrate on the landing approach all the time was great!
Im hooked

Happy Easter!

I have to admit that I was a little reluctant to get one of this at first, but today its my companion all weekend, always on the car with full charged batt ready to go.

Now I need to get some backpack that may fit her on, since I go to work on motorbike will be great to have some flight at lunch time.

Dream Flight claims new kits may be availible in 2 weeks.....In the mean time we can dream? Has anyone put the servos in the pod of an Evo forward of the wing pockets to get the weight forward? I would think this would shift cg balance point enough you could use lipo battery for final balance to save even more? I realize that there is a point that is to light for forward penitration, just trying to build a flat land thermic Alula...any thoughts ?

Mine is 5.5oz with correct CG, with 7g servos, 350ma battery and 1/2oz of lead much under 5oz gets pretty light.

A vender spotted my "looking for Alula" post and had an unlisted Alula kit left! was a very nice transaction! I hope to be joining in on the Alula fun very soon. It is exactly stuff like that that makes this website so valuable.
