had some help from an Alula pilot down here in Aussieland. Got my alula flying better than ever. We moved the CG back A LOT! We had a 5 cent piece on the nose, which now resides about an inch from the vertical fin. Talk about a big difference. Some Expo on the sticks really helps with achieving smooth flight also. Was not a fan of EXPO but i see the benefit.

My friend's Alula also rolls like crap and needs elevator input to achieve more axial results. I must admit that he makes it look smooth and amazing, Which goes to show how typical the roll/ spiral behaviour is on the alula. Will try and get some video of my beast today. But it looks like rain

Build my new Alula today and took her out fer maiden.
174 gram, top hatch power and loading, and most wonderfull . . . .
After 2 sessions of 1 hour . . .
Charging standard Alula battery afterwards took only 108 Mah
so that makes almost SIX hours of flight on standard DF battery Yeah baby!

Location: Netherlands.
Dark, really grey and absolutely windless weather.
19:30 local time.
And take a look at that really old classic Dutch windmill in the back.
It's a very short clip so that won't take much of yer time.

It's my first HLG/DLG wing after Easystar, Cloudsfly and Parkzone UMS Polecat.

Specs:
Standard Alula EVO
Standard Alula battery (300Mah)
S/TEC super micro digital servo's 6.0g 0.9kg(nice ones )
2 JR extension cords for plugging and charging @ top hatch
Orange RX R610 without housing (3.7g)(fits almost without cutting)
And for 2 Euro's and 10 cent weight of lead next to battery (19g)
(Hammered some fishing leads into shape to fit in nose)
Programmed my DX6i with the known workaround settings and
added 23% elev and 80% aile DR.
No expo.
Put some 3mm CF rods into her (under belly skid)
and taped edges with small GF tape

Tomorrow I will do some coloring, hope it's gonna look like this local bird:

BTW. I had a hard time finding a shop selling Alula's (DF is moving locations), finally ended up in the UK with a great supplier
who has everything (inc. spares http://www.rcmodelcentre.co.uk/dream.../cat_1247.html) in stock and reasonable shipping fees.

Nothing i have ever flown goes with this kind of ease as my new Alula,
no worries about landing or keeping it in the air, just . . . . . . silence . . . . .
Even a dog seemed willing to chase it couldn't catch it because i did!
And i can't still do rolls or backflips, I'm just learning to fly . . . . (with a big smile)

Well . . . . broke my head on trying to draw a proper bird of prey scheme.
After ten or so failed drawings i decided to make it BLING

Had some (how do you call it) sticky foil? really thin, laying around and cut it

and give it my own twist.
(stuff is being used to protect outside of books, dunno the english word fer it but comes off without marks)

I've been visiting the Dream-flight website for the past several days and noticed they are out of stock on the Alula. Hope this is a temporary condition. I've looked back a few pages and I didn't see anything mentioned before about this.

Dreamflight is out of stock and production shut down because they are moving locations.
You can see that on their facebook page and in my message 1549 above.
I mailed them and they hoped to have a new production date (date only) by the end of the month.

Try Windrider.com.hk - I got mine from there a few weeks ago and they still have stock.

Hmmm, from California to Hong Kong and back to California (me). Crazy. lol I'll either wait or perhaps move up to a full blown DLG. I did find an interesting one in the UK, flyingwings.co.uk but the shipping cost as much as the wing. Maybe that's why we don't see a lot of British products here.

Later...The more I think about it, it don't seem like a bad deal at all. I'm not helping my 'carbon footprint'. But then I'm not originally from California either. ha ha.

Windrider still have limited Alula in stock.

I've sat on the fence long enough. I ordered one. Also a keychain video (808 #16) cam with 120 degree field of view. Got the camera from one recommended by RCgroups vendors on ebay. I've had a dlg wing before. You can see some of those old cell phone videos on my youtube channel under my pen name 'gliderrider'. Although they arn't good. It was my very first flights. That wing was an EX2 Boomer. I loved it and took it around the world. It finally just crumbled apart. The alula has a proven track record. Okay, good you guys are here. I'm only gonna have a couple thousand questions to ask you all. First, while I wait, I'll go back to post#1 and read them all.

I'll save you the time and effort mate, here we go:

1: Use CF reinforcement in the neck/nose as it tends to go AWOL after a while.
2: Use piano wire (.020~.025) on wingtips to prevent damage.
3: Use lightweight components throughout - servos 9g or under, Rx 10g or under.
4: Remember to check the CG is on or slightly forward of the dimple for first flight.
5: Progressively move the CG back by removing noseweight until you're happy.

Is there someplace online to buy these supplies? All the hobby shops have went bust around here.
As far as the servos and stuff goes, my last wing was 34 inches and I was going to transfer it all to the alula. Micro eflight servos, a tiny gws reciever, and a 300 somthing battery. I have one of those power plug thingys too. But mine is slightly bigger. The other wing (ex2 boomer) flew well with it. No carbon rods juat packing tape. And a bit of lead in the nose.
